On Mother's Day, we are grateful for the mothers and mother-figures in our lives. We also recognize the complexity of mothering, for many. Susanne reflects on the two mothers in the biblical story of Moses as examples of strength and compassion in difficult circumstances. When God speaks of Godself as a Nursing Mother in Isaiah, it is in this sense of someone who shows compassionate love - something we can all strive to live out. http://www.npmc.net/sermons1.html
Looking for a simple spiritual practice to incorporate into your day? Here are some great ideas to try:
This week we will be exploring the " I AM" declarations of Jesus, or at least one of them in more depth. Jesus describes himself as the True Vine and invites us to abide in him. To what do these "I AM" statements allude? What might it mean to abide in Jesus these days? These are timely questions in this day and age. http://www.npmc.net/2021-sermon.html
Tomorrow at 7 pm:
The image of God as a Shepherd is very familiar to us, and appears throughout the Bible. Many of us probably know Psalm 23 by heart! Susanne explores what this term might have meant to the ancient Israelites, as well as what we can learn about leadership, love, and power from Jesus, the Good Shepherd. http://www.npmc.net/2021-sermon.html
This Sunday we will be dedicating and exploring a new hymnal to Mennonite congregations: Voices Together. More than a few of us find our hymns and singing to be sacramental-imparting grace, reminding us of God's steadfast love and mercy, strengthening our trust of God, building up of Christ's body (the church), encouraging charity. Singing, our hymns, are sacramental. Our hymn books are some of our holy books. http://www.npmc.net/2021-sermon.html

A number of NPMC folks knit and sew items for the babies in Sanctum 1.5. Here’s how that program helps families stay together (especially now with the practice of birth alerts ending).
For those interested in Mennonite history in Russia and the Ukraine, there is a webinar tomorrow evening:
Early Anabaptist leader Menno Simons liked to describe the church as "without spot or wrinkle," a perfect community of saints, the kingdom of God on earth. While this has been an inspiring and empowering view of the church, what does it mean when the church falls short or even does harm? Is the church meant to be a perfect community? Susanne explores these questions this week: http://www.npmc.net/2021-sermon.html
Sign up for weekly Advent reflections from writer Sarah Bessey:
As we mark In Memoriam Sunday, we remember those loved ones who have died this year and celebrate Communion together. Susanne reflects on what it means to remember this great "cloud of witnesses" that surrounds us, and to remember that God is with us in our grief. http://www.npmc.net/2020-sermons.html

The Canadian Mennonite wrote a story about our new Peace Club for kids!
As we conclude our worship series on the contemplative prayer based on Ps. 46:10 - Be Still and Know that I am God- we are left with one word: Be. Susanne explores what it means to pray this one-word prayer as a call to Be in God and Be the Church wherever we are.
Coming up this weekend! Mennonite Church Canada is hosting an online conference:
Mennonite Central Committee Saskatchewan is holding its second annual peace conference online:
This week we enter five in our sermon series on "Be Still and Know That I Am God". The topic will be "stillness". There are at least three distinct nuances of silence and stillness, and not all carry positive connotations and yet can be positive. Read more in the sermon or join us for the "live stream worship". http://www.npmc.net/2020-sermons.html
A virtual concert for a good cause!
This Thanksgiving Sunday, Susanne uses Psalm 69 to talk about gratitude as a practice that helps us to be hopeful, even in challenging times. http://www.npmc.net/2020-sermons.html
It’s back, with some health guidelines: MCC’s Buckets of Thanks.
This Sunday we enter week four in our sermon on "Be Sill and Know That I Am God", and that means on Sunday Patrick will be exploring the concept of stillness and knowing. How we learn to know is an intriguing topic for Christian discipleship as well as family systems. How do we learn to know anything?? Tune in for stories and reflections on this question. http://www.npmc.net/2020-sermons.html
We opened Sanctum 1.5 two years ago today! - https://mailchi.mp//we-opened-sanctum-15-two-years-ago-tod We opened Sanctum 1.5 two years ago today! - Our beaut...iful home for moms and babies is filled with love. And we're having cake today, too! In just two years, Sanctum 1.5 has supported the mothers of 41 babies to allow them to safely care for their children and to prevent apprehension. Your support makes this happen. Thank you, each and every one of you, for making this second birthday such a beautiful moment.
Wise words from poet Jan Richardson:
On this #OrangeShirtDay, Mennonite Church Canada and Mennonite World Conference staff are thinking of the survivors of Indian Residential Schools today. We are ...so grateful for the ways that survivors and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission have helped push and transform Canadian society, including the Church, toward a greater respect for Indigenous peoples, Indigenous rights, and Indigenous lands. There is much work that we have to do. But many are engaging it. Thank you survivors. May Creator continue to bless you and give you strength. See more
