Which of these statements are true and which ones are false? 1. Eating less and exercising more = long-term weight loss. 2. A calorie is a calorie is a calorie. All calories are the same. 3. Eating fat makes you fat.... 4. Not eating fat means you won't gain fat. 5. Eating low carbs or no carbs will make you lean. 6. The government food pyramid and food guidelines will improve your health. 7. If you exercise, you can eat anything you want. 9. You can eat anything as long as you stay within a certain caloric range. 9. Being fit and healthy is just a matter of willpower. 10. People are overweight because they eat too much food. As I'm sure most of you have figured out, all of these statements are false. These myths and many others continue to exists even though the science has been around for quite some time disproving all of them. The key to vibrant health is understanding that the body is a complex system and its needs are determined by your current state of health, your current activity level and other factors. When you understand the variables, then you can eat in the precise manner to fuel your body. You don't have to be a rocket scientist. But you do have to understand the foundational principles of nutrition. One size definitely DOES NOT fit all. Stay tuned for more...
