Have you been around our dock and met our marine residents? This is Euripides the Ochre, as one of our guides, Jon affectionately calls our little sea star. Euripides and other sea stars are a worldwide icon of the sea, but below the surface, a sea star apocalypse has been active since the early 70s with more notable cases in 2013. The Sea Star Wasting Disease is a sporadic disease causing mass mortality to sea stars and other echinoderms. Thankfully, by November of the same ...year the Orche sea star has regained population and symptoms have seemed to disappear. The theory was the temperature in the water had increased due to climate change, what do you know about the disease? share with the class!
