"Protecting the well-being of our subscribers was paramount in our deliberations."

Oceanside Classical Concerts Society 13.10.2020

It is with great sadness that we at Oceanside Classical Concerts announce the death of our fellow board member Bill Adkins. Bill had been on the board with us for many years as Secretary. Bill had been a teacher of Mathematics and Computers in Manitoba before retiring to Qualicum Beach where became a very active member of St. Marks Anglican Church where he served on the Parish Council, sang in the choir and was a long-time member of the Men's Club. He was also involved in the Qualicum Beach Residents' Association and the Qualicum Beach Seniors' Activity Centre. We will miss his great wit and charm. Rest in Peace our dear friend.

OCCS Concert Season 2020-2021 Postponement till 2021-2022 Dear Valued Subscribers, The emergence of COVID-19, and its impact on public health, is still of local and international concern. Based on the contagion risk considerations guidelines produced by the Government of British Columbia, we have made the very difficult decision to postpone the planned 2020-2021 concert series until 2021-2022.... Protecting the well-being of our subscribers was paramount in our deliberations. We were particularly concerned within our community about large gatherings of people in enclosed spaces, especially involving an older demographic. We could not mitigate several of the risks associated with large gatherings, in spite of the measures we had planned to implement regarding hygiene and sanitation. Our demographic is in the higher risk category and deserves our best efforts to be cautious. The Knox Church seating of 343 for our concerts, even with a gathering of 250 maximum (not allowed at present) will not suffice for social spacing for us to present our concerts. What we are proposing is moving this season into next year, beginning in the fall of 2021 therefore still presenting you with a five-concert season. As a paid subscriber of the 2020-2021 season, your payment will automatically transfer to the 2021-2022 season. Please retain your subscription cards and we will send you a validation sticker for the following season. Perhaps your circumstances dictate that you cannot join us in 21/22, in which case you can request a full refund of your subscription cost by following the instructions at the bottom of this message. We of course encourage you to stay with us and look forward to welcoming you back to a full and vibrant season in 2021. Even Beethoven has delayed his Birthday and cake, to help us celebrate better times ahead! Thank you for understanding our concerns regarding your health. David Douglas, President and Artistic Director

SUBSCRIPTION RENEWAL REMINDER Dear Valued Subscriber: I wish you all well this morning, as we negotiate a very different season of Holy Week and Easter celebrations! It truly seems incredible that so much has happened in our community, since the impending Pandemic dictated the cancellation of our season-closing Elmer Iseler Singers concert, less than a month ago!... We are moving forward on schedule with our 2020-2021 subscription renewal campaign deadline of April 15th and are 74% sold-out to date. We will be adhering to the broadcast date of 16th April for opening sales to our 42 people on our Wait-List.
