It's Friday Quarantine Sociable time again. This weeks song was requested by Blair's daughter Kieryn. It one of her lullaby songs. (Preformed a little more sedately at bedtime.) This is a song about a champion racing pigeon who completed a 1001 mile flight from Rome to Derby England shattering all previous records.. Written by Dave Sudbury the most famous recording is by June Tabor. Sociable!

The Friday Quarantine Sociable for this week is another request. This one is for Kelly who wanted to hear Mad Tom to kick off her weekend. This version was recorded live on St Patrick's Day at the fabulous West End Cultural Centre in Winnipeg. We should mention there are a few more requests we are working on but they have to be recorded from scratch so it takes a bit more doing but they are coming. This song can be found on our album I Should Behave, available for streaming at all your favourite places. SOCIABLE

The Friday Quarantine Sociable. Blair plays Time to Get a Gun, written by the great Canadian songwriter Fred Eaglesmith. Blair - I first met Fred at the Winnipeg Folk Festival in 1994 when they shared a Gator (quad) to take their stuff to the merch tent. We had cassettes (Helter Celtic) and T-shirts, Fred had these beautiful hand made wooden boxes containing his first 3 cassettes. I had just heard Fred on an interview with Peter Gzowski about making the boxes per the winter in his workshop. I told Fred I had heard the interview and loved the idea. Fred said let’s make a swap. I came out way ahead on that deal.

The Friday Quarantine Sociable. A few years ago we had the opportunity to do a couple days recording with one of our favourite artists and producer, Scott Nolan. The problem was we didn't have any material written. We decided to do an ep of Sea Shanties because when you are a band from the prairies it's only natural. We loved this song because it was a really obscure song as far as shanties go. Flash forward to Tic Tok and this song is probably the best known Sea Shanty. ... From our album Plain Sailing See more
