Dear Parents/Guardians, As part of an OLGC Grade 8 fundraiser there has been a donation of a pair of Toronto Maple Leaf tickets at the Scotiabank Centre against the Florida Panthers on Monday, March 23, 2020. Each student from grades 1 to 8 is receiving a book of tickets. If your child sells any tickets please return the funds and ticket stubs to their homeroom teacher. Please return any unsold tickets to the homeroom teacher as well. All money, ticket stubs and unsold ticket...s are due returned to the school by Friday, February 7, 2020. The winner will be drawn at the school on Monday, February 10, 2020. Good Luck!!!

Mayor and Council held, for the first time, a Holiday Card Art Contest. We invited grade three students from EG Elementary Schools to submit a design that coul...d then, if chosen, be used for our Town Holiday Cards..... This week I met with the students who submitted their designs to thank them for their submissions and to announce the first, second and third place. First Place - Our Lady of Good Counsel (will be used for our Holiday Cards) Second & Third Place - Robert Munsch Public School Judging the entries proved to be a very difficult task as they were all so good and, in my opinion, all winners! It's that time of year again where, we as a Catholic community, reach out and spread love and joy to those in need. Every year OLGC participates in the Good Samaritan's Operation Christmas child shoe box initiative. Boxes will be available starting today. They will be located in the front lobby for easy pick up.... Please take a brochure as well that has the info outlining what to pack in the box and a small fee to pay for the transport of these boxes around the world. If you don't know about this charity and would like to find out more, I ask you to watch this you tube video as it outlines just what Operation Christmas Child is all about. https://youtu.be/zh0pMgqEBrc If you have young, forgetful, or bus riding children please contact Kelly Holiday at ([email protected]) and she will make sure your child brings home a box to fill. Boxes need to be filled and returned to the school by November 22. Have fun filling these boxes and try to include your kids in this process as it is incredibly rewarding for them to be involved in helping other children find hope in Faith. Lets come together as a Catholic community to spread love and faith at this very special time of year. Thank you

Dear Parents/Guardians, We have just been notified that CUPE, the Ontario Catholic School Trustees Association (OCSTA) and the Crown have reached a provincially negotiated settlement. As a result, CUPE Locals 1571, 2331 and their members will NOT be on strike tomorrow, Monday, October 7, 2019.... Please be advised that all York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) schools will be OPEN for regular school activities and student transportation services will operate as usual for eligible students. Thank you for your continued patience and support throughout the collective bargaining process between our CUPE partners, OCSTA and the provincial government. Dear OLGC Families If we do find out that there is a strike and schools are closed, hot lunches that have been paid for, the first plan is to reschedule those lunches to another date during this session. We would advise you of these dates. If the strike goes on too long and we are not able to fit all the dates in (many factors including vendor availability as they will have many schools doing the same thing), those orders will be cancelled and a credit will be applied to your Munchalunch account for you to use in the next session.
