"The 2020 Canadian National committee is committed to our convention. We realize that times are not what they once were and while there have been many cancellations of many dances, we remain optimistic that circumstances will change for the better. We hope to be the light at the end of the tunnel. We will make a decision at the end of April, based on input from the government, medical and other informed individuals.... In the meantime, stay home and stay safe." Sylvia Secretary for 2020 Festival
With the many cancellations as a result of Covid 19, and with the uncertainty of the longevity of the pandemic, I have been asked by numerous people about the fate of festival 2020 in Surrey BC and about the Alaska Cruise. I spoke yesterday with Norm Cox, co-chair of the Convention, we agreed to follow events as they pertain to the US National Festival scheduled for June of this year. Also, the CSRDS Convention has been in discussion with the venue owners. They have given the... 2020 coordinators until the end of April to make a decision. Should the Convention be cancelled by that time they will receive a 60% rebate of deposits. After that date, no refunds guaranteed. We will monitor this closely and keep you posted. With regard to the cruise, it is a private and not a CSRDS event. It is up to each individual to contact the travel agent to determine the outcome. Please ensure your provincial Federation or Association or Club is made aware of the foregoing. All the best with the continuing crisis. Cheers Eric McCormack President CSRDS
A big kudos to our member clubs. The recommendation from the Ontario Federation to suspend classes and events has had the desired effect. Most dancing in the re...gion has now been suspended until at least Apr 5. Well reassess at that time, and send out a new bulletin. Judging by stories from the west coast, where the virus went like wildfire through square dance clubs, weve taken the right step. Stay well. I hope to see you on the dance floor again soon. See more

Shots from the Beef a la King dance in Waterdown, Ontario last Feb. Round dancing is popular at the Waterdown Village Squares. Its referred to as choreographed... ballroom. Same dance floor chops, only the cuer worries about the sequence of steps for you, and cues them over the music. Home caller Jim Lee is one of the greats, and keeps the floor humming with his singing calls. See more

Having fun with the audience at the Western Fair in London. Lots of people gave square dancing a try. It was great to have the exposure. Everybody loved it, and we are already booked for next year. Sorry you hear me telling my daughter to turn the other way hahaha.
