Last-minute sustainable gifting with On The Move Organics This gift set is the perfect bundle of eco-friendly cheer for any environmentalists on your list (OR YOURSELF, just saying.) This set comes with: 750ml bottle of Pelee Island ECO Trail Red Blend @peleewinery... "Pelee Island may contain one of the largest concentrations of endangered organisms in Canada. Two anuran species, Blanchards cricket frog and Fowler's toad, seem to have been extirpated from Pelee Island, but in the last couple of years scientists have made voice recordings of the cricket frog, leading us to believe this tiny frog still exists on Pelee Island. Pelee Island Winery is actively involved in preserving the unique Carolinian habitat." Tasting notes: Deep red in colour. Plenty of dried fruit on the nose and palate, good tannins and subtle spicy notes. 8 Piece Box of Alter Eco Silk Velvet, Dark Milk Chocolate Truffles @AlterEcoSF Organic, fair trade and made with sustainable coconut oil. "...every product we make is sourced from farmer-owned coops practicing sustainable agriculture. It's as easy as that!" Wrapped in plant-based, non GMO, compostable wrappers Find this and other ideas in the "Holiday Gifts" section at onthemoveorganics.ca! Psst - we'll deliver it to your front door #shopsmall #supportlocal #ldnontario #ldnont

BRUSSELS SPROUTS: YAY OR NAY? Dinner: A Love Story knows her way around a quick and easy dinner, and we're *into* this roasted Brussels sprouts bowl! We have Ontario Brussels sprouts this week, so try out this recipe (if you dare) and let us know what you think. (PS: We didn't have teriyaki sauce on hand, so just mixed up tamari with a bit of maple syrup, finely chopped garlic, ginger and onion and it was DELISH.) http://www.dinneralovestory.com/my-new-favorite-bowl/

We're deep into November, and we want to know: what's your go-to comfort food? One of our long-time favourites is Shakshuka - aka, the classiest way to eat eggs for dinner . Add some organic sausages or tempeh (throw them right in the pan to cook or serve on the side) and a hunk of bread & you're set. . We especially love the Shakshuka with Feta recipe from Melissa Clark at @nytcooking: . "Shakshuka may be at the apex of eggs-for-dinner recipes. It’s a one-skillet recipe ...of eggs baked in a tomato-red pepper sauce spiced with cumin, paprika and cayenne. First you make that sauce, which comes together fairly quickly on top of the stove, then you gently crack each of the eggs into the pan, nestling them into the sauce. The pan is moved into the oven to finish. Shakshuka originated in North Africa, and like many great dishes there are as many versions as there are cooks who have embraced it. This one strays from more traditional renditions by adding crumbled feta cheese, which softens into creamy nuggets in the oven’s heat." . Head over to onthemoveorganics.ca to fill up your order with tomatoes (canned or fresh), red pepper, local organic eggs & spices and cook up some comfort this week! . Find the full recipe by searching "Shakshuka with Feta" at https://cooking.nytimes.com. #comfortfood

WHY ORGANIC? Here's what our friends at @orgcouncil have to say: "Organic agriculture is a production method which promotes and enhances biodiversity, protects long-term soil health and reduces the impact of agriculture on climate change by encouraging carbon sequestration in the soil. In Canada, organic practices are regulated by the Canadian Organic Standards, and producers or processors who use the Canada Organic Logo must meet these standards.... Organic production is designed to: respect the environment through the responsible usage of soil, water and air, minimizing agricultural pollution protect the long-term health of the soil, encouraging soil biological activity and minimizing soil degradation and erosion provide livestock with humane living conditions for their health and well-being recycle materials and resources whenever possible and reduce the use of non-renewable resources" Healthy food, healthy people, healthy soil, healthy world. #eatorganic
