Orienteering Nova Scotia 10.01.2021

Another at home orienteering activity available for free. This one requires a login sign-up. Trail-O is a timed event where you have to match the correct control flag to what’s shown on the map. A great way to tune your map reading and control description skills.

Click on the event link to download the map and answer sheet for the LUNENBURG PHOTO CHALLENGE. This is a "complete in your own time" event on a new map. The map is not perfect (it's created from Open Street Map) but it should be good enough for an informal street-O!

And so it begins: World of O’s route to Christmas provides a daily route choice activity. A great resource to help you fill in your Bing-O!

Orienteering Nova Scotia 09.12.2020

Time for another spot of Bing-O fun! The winner will earn an orienteering mask sewn by our very own Heather Walker. There are runners up prizes, too. The deadline is December 31. Check the bottom of the page for details.

The Lunenburg Photo-O Score event has been switched to an open-ended score-O that you can complete in your own time (when COVID restrictions allow). The map and photo codes will be posted here and on the ONS website from December 6 onwards. For details click the link below: https://sso.whyjustrun.ca/events/view/4294

Some Breaking News! With MapRunF 5.0.9 you get much better punch notifications sent to your Garmin watch from the app on the phone but, even bigger, MapRunG ha...s been released on the Garmin Connect IQ App store. For the more modern Garmin Watches this integrates your watch into the complete MapRunF environment so you can upload a course to your watch, let it do the punching, and after completing the course (and back with your phone), MapRunF will grab the activity from your Garmin Connect site and upload the results for the event! Details and links to full instructions on our MapRunf Information page https://ottawaoc.ca/index.php/maprun-intro (you do need to be a member and have a login). See more

Postponement of the 2020 Canadian Rockies Orienteering Festival until 2021 With all the uncertainty surrounding Covid-19 and in line with other sporting events,... the 2020 Canadian Rockies Orienteering Festival (CROF) including the 2020 Canadian Orienteering Championships (COCs), Western Canadian Orienteering Championships (WCOCs), Crowsnest Barebones events and the Sass Peepre National Training Junior Camp scheduled to take place in July 3-12, 2020 have been postponed until 2021. This will be a disappointment for many, as it is to the organizers, but we feel at this time, it is the only responsible decision to make. We do not take this decision lightly, as 2020 will be the first time that the Canadian Orienteering Championships will not be held since the first COCs in 1968. The Canadian Rockies Orienteering Festival will be rescheduled for the summer of 2021. Please see the full statement with more details at: https://crof2020.com/
