For today’s #featurefriday we would like to take a moment to introduce our newest team member, Janna. Janna is born and raised in the Grande Pairie area, both in the city as well as the county. She enjoys hiking, drawing and hanging out with her friends and family in her spare time. Janna wears a few hats in our office! You may see her doing admin work at the front desk, in our lab creating your retainers and appliances or helping things run smoothly in the clinic when need...ed. Janna started with our team about a month ago. She is enjoying her time in the dental field so far and is excited to see where it takes her!! When asked what her favourite part of her day at Ortho 101 is she replied greeting and talking to patients. Im enjoying getting to know and build relationships with the patients. We are so lucky to have you, Janna. Welcome aboard!!

At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. Our office will be closed today as we remember the brave heroes who fought for us all. We will reopen Thursday, November 12th.

October is National Orthodontic Health Month A question we get asked a lot here in the office is a friend of ours had their sons treatment completed at their general dentist’s office, is he an orthodontist too? While all general dentists and orthodontist strive for greatness in all treatment they start, there is a difference between the two. ... Not only does an orthodontist first have to obtain an undergraduate degree and then complete another 4 years of university to become a dentist, they then go on for an additional 3 years of schooling to specialize in orthodontics. The skills they learn while specializing set them apart to take on each and every unique case with confidence. It’s #featurefriday! Today we are meeting, Landen. Landen has been a patient of Dr. Chana’s for 3 years now in total. Something he enjoys about his braces journey is getting to choose colours for his elastics but doesn’t like the aches and tenderness that come along with the adjustments. Some advice Landen would like to offer anyone new to orthodontics is to avoid popcorn! You’ll be sure to break something ... In his free time, Landen enjoys riding his quad, dirt biking and hockey. If Landen could be any animal he said he would be an eagle so he could be protected. It’s #featurefriday!! Today we are meeting Addison. Addison has been a patient of Dr. Chana’s for 1 month now. Something she enjoys about her orthodontic journey so far is knowing her teeth will be straight in the end. Something she dislikes is when her teeth are sore from the braces. Some advice Addison would like to give others who are new to orthodontics, is it will get better!! Your teeth won’t be sore forever! ... Addison enjoys going to the orthodontist and also loves napping and relaxing in her spare time. Winter is coming, so we have to agree, cuddling up relaxing sounds nice. If Addison could be any animal she would like to be a cat because they are cute and cuddly. When Addison is finished high school she doesn’t have any concrete plans other than she is sure she wants to live an amazing life, and we love that!! We are excited to watch your smile change with you, Addison!

It’s #featurefriday!! Today we are meeting McKenna! McKenna has been a patient of ours for over 2 years and is now in the retention stage of treatment enjoying her brand new smile!! During her course of treatment she said something she disliked was the taste of the glue while getting her braces bonded on but overall liked everything to do with her braces journey, which we love to hear!!... McKenna said if she could give anyone getting braces some advise it would be to never break a bracket because then you would have to get it bonded back on and the glue is gross! McKenna enjoys exploring tiktok in her free time and when asked what animal she would be and why she replied with a dog because they get to cuddle up at home all day When McKenna graduates high school she would love to study X-ray technology to pursue a career as an X-ray technician.

One thing she enjoys about her orthodontic journey is knowing her teeth are getting straight, but dislikes when things get stuck in her braces. A piece of advise Alexis would give to anyone new to braces or about to get braces is bring a toothpick with you while out and about as well as wear your elastics when t...old!! When asked if she could be one animal what would it be and why, Alexis answered she would like to be a bird so she can fly away from people she doesn't enjoy being around. When Alexis graduates Highschool she would love to attend college to study interior design.
