Welcome to our virtual adoption experience Welcoming Chance! This big ol-hunk is handsome, isn’t he? ... Chance is around 3 years old and he is an American bulldog mix. Chance joins us through no fault of his own, sadly his owner has passed away so he is looking for a new start with a new family. Chance knowns basic commands and he is a medium energy dog in a home. Chance does like other dogs! He is currently not cat tested. Chance can be a little nervous when meeting new people but takes him no time at all to warm up! We would recommend bigger kiddos as he is a bull in a china shop! This sweet hunky boy can PULL on a leash, so he will need the back to basics training on walking on a leash. He is VERY strong and will need someone that can help guide him in this area. Multiple applications may be accepted Chance's case ID is A064297 How does this work? Please take a look through our available adoptables here: https://www.oshawa.ca/residents/adoption.asp Complete the adoption application form: https://forms.oshawa.ca//Strategic-and-Busine/Dog-Adoption After your application is submitted online, OAS staff will arrange a phone interview to complete the adoption process. Did you know ? October is #InternationalBlackCatAwarenessMonth. ... How to celebrate? The first and best way is to do your part in dispelling the myths surrounding black cats and their supposed luck-altering abilities. If you’re thinking about adopting a kitten, consider a black kitten, and if it’s a black kitten with special needs, so much the better! Special needs cats get adopted at rates below that of even healthy black kittens, so special needs black kittens are especially in need of love! Bringing the love of a black kitty into your life, or helping another one get adopted, is the best celebration they could hope for. Who wouldn't love their very own black panther ! Show us your black kitties, let's share the love !

Sugar here, just passing on by hoping my forever family will see this today and fall in love with me... Our sweet little old diabetic is really hoping for a home! She is currently receiving insulin twice a day and is a piglet for her food! Sugar has been at the shelter for 177 days and while the OAS team absolutely adores her, we want to see this girl with a home to call her own!... This sweet darling would love a couch and bed to cozy up into. She loves everyone and is so quick to curl up for a cuddle. Interested in adopting? PM us to chat more about Sugar! Oct 1st is National Black Dog Day! It’s National Black Dog Day today A special day devoted to highlighting black dogs in shelters & rehoming centers around the globe, just because of their colouring they are less likely to be adopted crazy! Did you know that? (Same with black kitties!) This day was created to bring awareness to adoptable black dogs, who often spend more time in shelters than their many-colored counterparts.... Let's see those beautiful black doggies! Photo courtesy and information courtesy of https://nationaldayreview.com/national-black-dog-day/ #OASnationalholiday #nationalblackdogday2020

Adoption update We adopted Estelle (formerly Elize) last weekend from Toe Beans Cat Cafe, and are happy to report that she is the perfect fit for our home: always looking for someone to cuddle, exploring for new hideouts, and loves playing with her three new siblings (5yo and 2yo humans and our 3yo cat Luna). In her adoption folder her former owners wrote a note that she likes to shred toilet paper and attack houseplants... So far she’s been good, but our 2-year-old son al...so loves to unroll and shred toilet paper, so I imagine it’s only a matter of time before they become partners in crime. Shot out to Toe Beans Cat Cafe for finding this sweet kitty her perfect match! #OASfamily #OASadoptionpartner

Thank you to everyone that applied to bring Pickle into their flock and home! We have chosen the successful application and Pickle will be joining his new home today! We got many wonderful applications so please just watch the website for future Conures! Welcome to our virtual adoption experience! ... Introducing Pickle! Pickle came to us as a stray Conure. We don't know Pickle's sex but this birdie sure is friendly! Pickle needs someone who is committed to owning a bird. Pickle loves time outside of the cage. Conure's need a minimum of 2-4 hours of outside cage time per day. Pickle steps up, gives kisses and even dances! Conures can live over 30 years! Information on Conure's and photo credit: https://www.thesprucepets.com/green-cheek-conures-390576 Choosing the right bird for you information: https://www.thesprucepets.com/choosing-bird-thats-right-for Multiple applications will be accepted Case ID # for Pickle A064186 Adoption fee is $100.00 How does this work? Applications pending Thank you so much to everyone who applied to Xena! We have received wonderful applications and will be reading through applications, and arranging Xena to meet her new family! We will update this post when she is officially adopted! Welcome to our virtual adoption experience... Roll out the red carpet for Xena! This gorgeous lady is looking for a fresh start. We don’t have much of a history on her but what we do know is a bit of a puzzle. Xena has a microchip that was never registered. Her microchip is a Polish chip! World traveler over here. We believe she was brought in from Poland. Xena was found left tied to an abandoned farm guarding a farming area but this overly friendly lady just wanted some love when she was found! She really had no interest in guarding. We have estimated Xena to be around 1 year old. She is a longhair shepherd and is just stunning! Xena absolutely loves people and is very friendly. She needs to be the only pet in the home as she has requested to hog her new family to herself (Princess over here!) Xena has shown some dog reactivity on leash and will need some training to help her curve this behaviour. Xena seems to respond well to hand commands. The hand commands we have figured out that she knows are sit and lay down. More to come! We aren’t sure she currently understands English but being so young it will be a learning curve for her! If you are interested in adopting Xena, please apply. We will be accepting multiple applications on this girl to make sure we find her best fit. special thanks to Kit'N'Ka-Poodle Pet Grooming Salon for the spa day !!! Xena's case ID is A064142 How does this work? Please take a look through our available adoptables here: https://www.oshawa.ca/residents/adoption.asp Complete the adoption application form: https://forms.oshawa.ca//Strategic-and-Busine/Dog-Adoption After your application is submitted online, OAS staff will arrange a phone interview to complete the adoption process. Welcome to our virtual adoption experience Introducing Hercules! This big boy weighs in at 84lbs. Tall, lanky and super strong! ... We believe he is a German shepherd/ Great Pyrenees around 1 year old. Hercules came to us as a stray so we have no prior history on this sweet boy. This handsome lad will be a lovely addition to a new family! He will need a new family that is willing to focus on some training. Things like walking on the leash seem to be fairly new to him, and he is Hercules strong! He will need some guidance that it isn’t a race! Consistency is key and so far he is slowly learning and making progress with us at the shelter. He is a giant dog with a puppy mentality (Someone needs to learn that all 4 paws stay on the ground ) Hercules doesn't seem to mind other dogs, but of course a meet and greet will be arranged with the newest furry family canine-member for their approval. He is a super strong boy so at this time we have not done a meet and greet with the kitties at the shelter. Hercules would do well in a home with a fenced in yard. Few Fun Facts about Hercules 10/10 mosquito catcher Drooler; He will help you mop your floors Not a fan of listening (Recall? What’s that?) Treats? Watch your fingers! When I love something I get a little too excited and try to eat it quickly from your hand! We will be accepting multiple applications on this big guy to find him his perfect match! Hercules's case ID is A064141 How does this work? Please take a look through our available adoptables here: https://www.oshawa.ca/residents/adoption.asp Complete the adoption application : https://forms.oshawa.ca//Strategic-and-Busine/Dog-Adoption After your application is submitted online, OAS staff will arrange a phone interview to complete the adoption process.
