Frontlines launches a new website: Frontlines Pin-up was created as a community board for community workers, leaders and the community at large to post information to become a resource for information sharing. It is a place for to share program updates, funding, jobs, events, volunteering opportunities, blogs and so much more. Since 2016, the idea of providing a community board website and newsletter, particularly focusing on youth was an interest of Weston Frontlines Centre.... In 2020 with the COVID 19 pandemic, Frontlines along with its many partners particularly those part of a cluster of agencies of York, Weston and Pellham in Toronto, saw the need to provide a place for the sharing of information so that the community, particularly youth can find information about various opportunities. This site is also useful for those who are interested in getting into the field of social work to find job and funding opportunities. Our logo and site bear similarity to real community boards in which thumbtacks are used to place information in communities. The one thing that differs is that we vet what is posted before it is live. Posts are vetted by the team at Weston Frontlines Centre. Find out more about Weston Frontlines Centre by clicking on our name. For all inquiries, please reach out to us at [email protected] or call us at 416 244 7017. https://frontlinespinup.ca/ See more

The community of Rockcliffe keeps flooding. When will it end?

Weston & Mount Dennis OSN 14.03.2020

Residents of YSW have experienced decades of flooding and environmental degradation. They have lost their cars, family heirlooms and have seen their basements destroyed, many more than once. The financial hardship has been tremendous but the emotional turmoil, chaos and continuous uncertainty is a burden many bear in silence. Long time residents have endured decades of civic neglect. A history of broken promises, lies, and stacks of dusty studies recommending unfunded interve...ntions that have been flatly ignored.. Each time a storm passes through residents fear that once again their streets and basements will become filled with sewage. They are not safe in their own homes. Residents have been humiliated, dismissed and treated with disrespect for far too long Claims for relief to the city have been denied and some residents can’t even obtain home insurance. Enough is Enough! Join us for a Community Awareness March, as we stand in support of our neighbours and demand that all levels of government work together to build the infrastructure required to stop the disastrous, life-threatening flooding of Black Creek! We will meet in the parking lot of York Community Recreation Centre, walk down along Black Creek across Weston Rd and along Alliance Ave ending at Jane Park Plaza. There will be stops at points of interest along the way. Social distancing, masks, and hand sanitizer will be in practice. Comfortable shoes, a hat and sunscreen recommended. Noisemakers, drumming, posters and senseless acts of beauty encouraged! **Bring a friend and invite the press.
