Thank you to everyone who applied. We are happy to say we have hired a Custodian.
Many of you have been in contact with us asking what we need to support Out of Cold’s residents. We have a specific list of items that we are currently in need... of. We ask that you hold on to everything else right now and watch our social media to see if we need it in the future. We need the following items of clothing for people of all sizes and all genders: * Underwear * Hoodies * Sweatshirts * Sweatpants * Jeans * Belts * Pyjamas * Warm Waterproof Gloves * Warm Winter Jackets * Warm Winter Footwear We don’t have a washer and dryer so we ask that only clean items be dropped of for donation. We are always happy to except grocery gift cards in any amount, as well as five and $10 gift cards from Subway, McDonald’s, and Tim Hortons. Please drop these items off to the front door of the shelter at 1221 Barrington St., Halifax. Thank you so much for all of your support!
Hello! We are need of one or more small portable listening devices to support the mental health of some folks staying in shelter. Preference is for Walkman type devices that play the radio. Discmans or MP3s have been identified as less desirable as they are more complicated to use independently. ... If you can hook us up with a donation OR know where we can get some at an extremely reasonable price and quite quickly, please be in touch! Thanks!!
Hello to our beautiful and generous community of supporters! We are asking you at this time to stop bringing us sandwiches as we are being overwhelmed and unable to use them all before they are spoiled. If you would like to bring us sandwiches, please contact [email protected] and we will respond as soon as possible to arrange a date. We ask you to do this even if you have already arranged with a staff member to bring us sandwiches. ... We so appreciate your generosity and patience while we work through the bumps of a new season and get ourselves organized. Thanks!!

Please take the time to read. Not all of us are equally affected by the current housing crisis. How do you stay home when you don’t have a home? We are all exhausted by the pandemic, but we are not all struggling to find a place to sleep each night. The toll that homelessness and insecure housing takes is immeasurable.
