Today we attended the official opening of the Combined Sewage Storage Tunnel (CSST)! This awesome infrastructure project was brought about due to Municipal, Provincial and Federal cooperation towards a healthier watershed, and was a part of the Ottawa River Action Plan which Ottawa Riverkeeper championed. The project will help mitigate the impacts that Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs) have on our watershed. It will hold up to 43,000m3 of overflow during rainfalls, preventing it from entering the river. There is a lot to learn from this success story from Ottawa! If you want to know more about how to prevent CSOs in other municipalities, read our Toolkit for Community Action: https://www.ottawariverkeeper.ca//Combined-Sewer-Overflow-
