September brought us a few new friends at the Centre, a special delivery of Smile cookies (thanks Sue-Ann!), and we've been loving playing in all the leaves outside - and finding all the ladybugs hiding in them - as well as having so much fun making all kinds of awesome fall artwork!

Just a tiny glimpse of what we were up to at the Centre in July and August. This summer was quite different from most years - there were no excursions to the swimming pool, Lions Park, school park, and even no water table play outside with the awesome water table we purchased last summer :( Buuuuutt we made the most of a difficult situation and created fun indoors and outdoors :)

The Oxbow Community Childcare Centre would like to send a HUGE Thank You to the 7 employees of the Affinity Credit Union Oxbow Advice Centre for designating the OCCC as their Community Spirit Fund recipient for a total of $1,400.00! We are so appreciative and grateful for the support!

The OCCC currently has a position open for a Student Educator to work 2-3 days per week from 3:20-6:00 pm (or 3-6 if that works with the individuals schedule). The OCCC has an ongoing fundraiser with Mabel's Labels - with school starting in less than a month it's a good time to start thinking about ordering some labels for all the school supplies! We're excited to announce that our 4th Annual Spring Auction Fundraiser will now take place July 27th-29th 2020. Stay tuned for further details!

Here's just a tiny glimpse of what we got up to in May and so far into June. Our daily routine always includes outdoor play, creative art experiences, and plenty of free play opportunities for the children to learn through play - just to name a few things. We have open spaces for ages 18 months to 12 years for full time and casual care! For more information on our program give Director Kayla Mathison a call at 306-483-5284 or email [email protected].

Happy birthday to us - today is the OCCC's SEVEN year anniversary of our opening date! The children who don't nap worked hard during naptime to colour a number 7 to celebrate 7 years in business!

Macey Menzies, one of our amazing student educators (the other being Kari - pictured with the children below), is graduating this year and her graduation photo was put up on Main Street over the weekend. The children were so excited to take a walk down the street this morning to see for themselves!

Please join us in celebrating our wonderful Early Childhood Educators today for Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day. Today the province of Saskatchewan recognizes the importance of early childhood educators and the essential role they play in helping to prepare our earliest learners. The foundations that ECE's teach and the learning environments that they create are fundamental for children to learn and grow. Thank you Kayla, Katie, Michaela, Macey, and Kari

The Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed the month of May to be Early Childhood Education Appreciation Month and Wednesday May 13th has been designated as Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day. Early childhood educators play an essential role in helping to prepare our earliest learners. Early childhood educators teach the foundations and create learning environments that are fundamental for children to learn and grow. Please take a moment on Wednesday to thank an Early Childhood Educator - whether they work at the OCCC or another centre their dedication to early childhood education should not go unnoticed!

We may have lower enrollments right now but we're still keeping busy- we've been doing lots of fun Easter and Spring art activities and are enjoying the snow in our play yard while it lasts!
