Great day training in the Cessna 180 Skywagon. Sara D. Pilot-in-Command. Route was Nanaimo to Sproat Lk, Sutton pass to Kennedy Lake then Long Beech, land Tofino Harbour, take off and cruise by Whales to Hot Springs Cove, then up to Megin Lake, few pictures then out of Megin climbing to 5500 feet over Clayquot Wilderness Resort and then mostly direct to Nanaimo via Della Falls back to our Quennell Lake base. Lovely day for flying.

Josh A. At Quamichan Lake today practicing Glassy Water Landings and Take Off.
Pleasure teaching Josh A. today as he completed his solo take offs and landings near Valdes Island. Josh is the lucky but gracious recipient of the BC Floatplane Association Scholarship Award for 2020 for his Seaplane Rating. https://www.facebook.com/BCFloatplaneAssociation/ Well done Josh!... Just prior he was practicing Glassy Water Landings and Take Off from Quamichan Lake. Alas he has finished his rating and sports a newly minted Seaplane Rating. Of course his experience as a Harbour Air dockhand came in handy at end of day, washing down the Cessna 172 Trainer Surfer 1. See next video. It was a great day!
We fly again tomorrow!

A Love story that we would like to share: Rob Macmillan and his wife Peg from Port Alberni, saved a black lab named Taz. The story is very heartwarming to all of us here @ Pacific Seaplanes, as we warmly feel for all animals. This story is exceptional why? this poor guy, we were told, was left for 3 weeks suffering from a broken leg in the care of an organization that is to ensure that this type of suffering doesnt happen. It is people like Rob and Peg that really portray ...the beauty in mankind and the extent they went through to help Taz. You are both amazing people, we are proud to know. Brenda Hanna Pacific Seaplanes. Their story below: We were looking for a big dog to fill the gap that our Pyrenees left in our little family. I called Prince George SPCA about another dog & they mentioned a black lab with a broken leg that was like that since June & they were not fixing it. And so it began ... Picked him up August 15th from SPCA Vancouver ... Taking a step back ... Because BC Ferries could not accommodate us we began a search for another method to arrive in Vancouver between 4 & 4:30 (SPCA rules) from Port Alberni ... we then contacted Pacific Seaplanes who were leaving Nanaimo at 3:15 arriving in Richmond at 3:45 to meet a pre reserved taxi which did not show up ... Called Bonnys Taxi CAR 41 (Mr Bains ... Land pilot) who arrived in 5 mins. & had us in Vancouver SPCA at 4:30 ... Mr Bains waited & returned Taz & myself to Richmond for the 6:00 flight back to Nanaimo ... 83 lbs of black lab ... No kennel, which did not matter to either Mr Bains or Pacific Seaplane. The pilot Alex, another customer (Jimmy Jimmy) & myself got Taz loaded onto plane & away we flew. He was a little inquisitive about the noise but managed to not panic. Alex lifted him off the plane with me holding TAZs tail & leash. This is how TAZs journey began. Automatically believe this is the end of the story? NOT!!! The following day I received a call from Brenda @ Pacific Seaplanes explaining they were crediting our fares back due to "TAZs rescue" situation. Unbelievable to us ... Totally appreciated ... Too generous for words other than THANK YOU! Taz had surgery at WAVES Victoria Aug 21st ... Came home on Aug 23rd ... And is doing awesome. Taz thanks everyone involved in his journey to get to his "forever" home.
Surfer 8 ....Zoom Zoom!
