Check out these new courts created by Robb Ferris and his Sport Court Specialists at @VictoriaPlayCo located at Pacific Shores Resort in Nanoose Bay, BC. Just ...5 minutes south of Parksville on Vancouver Island, the https://pacificshoresbc.com/ property is 11 acres set on beautiful Craig Bay. With 10 new pickleball courts, of which six are permanent and fully fenced, the other 4 have temporary nets. The courts were built to host tournaments, as well as cater to guests and local pickleball players. Owner Rafer Strandlund tells us his wife Vicky, is an avid and exceptional pickleball player. She invited some pickleball friends to show them the Pacific Shores and the old, abandoned tennis courts to get their opinion on whether or not they felt the area would work for pickleball. While on that visit, they watched the local players who were playing at the lacrosse box and tennis courts, with temporary nets. It was enough to convince them all that the local community could certainly benefit from a high quality pickleball facility and there would be enough players to use it. Enter Victoria PlayCo https://www.victoriaplayco.com/ and with nothing more than a gentleman’s handshake, they got to work on the design and planning. Work on the courts began in July, 2020 and they played the first game in August. From initial concept to completion of the 10 courts was under 5 months. Although construction of the courts were financed 100% privately and the courts are on private property, they have offered the courts to the local players and clubs. In September they had a small play day to celebrate the grand opening, which was well attended from players all over Vancouver Island. Everyone loved it. @pacificshoresresort is one to follow and add to your future travels. This waterfront resort offers rooms with full kitchens, a restaurant, spa and some fine Pickleball play. What a spectacular show Mother Nature put on last night! As cooler air moved in after a very hot day, a wild and fast moving thunderstorm moved up Georgia Strai...t and along Vancouver Island. The storm went on for several hours. We couldn't see the biggest part of the storm from our own home so we went down to the beach to watch but then the rains came. Here at Pacific Shores we are making some changes, as well as taking extra precautions to help protect our guests and our employees. Due to the Covid 19 virus, we have shut down our indoor/outdoor pool, hot tubs and sauna. Our onsite spa, Aqua Terre has also shut their doors for the time being. Smoke n Water, effective this Friday will also be closing down. Finally effective this Monday our reception hours will be limited to 9:00am until 9:00pm. We do apologize for the inconvenience and plan to keep all you updated on any changes to our facility.
