Happy Groundhog Day! The results are in, and it looks like it’s not quite time to put away our winter clothes just yet. This morning, the resident BC ‘groundhog’, Van Isle Violet, managed to see her shadow, predicting 6 more weeks of winter. Van Isle Violet is monitored by the Marmot Recovery Foundation, which has been working since 1999 to save the Vancouver Island Marmot from extinction. In 2003, there were fewer than 30 of these marmots left in the wild. Today, with recovery efforts, the population has increased to about 250; still one of the rarest mammals on the planet. The tiger is a symbol of strength, courage, and great predilection, and even more so when combined with water. People born in 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, or 2022 belong to the Year of the Tiger. So, what’s in store for the Year of the Tiger?
