A fun #FeatureFriday coming at you! Jeans Unlimited has been in business for over 40 years after Sue Sullivan opened her first store in the mall when she was just 17 years old. The guys took over almost 2 years ago and consider themselves quite proud to be a part of this legacy, which they hope continues on. Parry Sound has a pretty tightly knit small business community, and Jeans Unlimited really like to support our peers whether it's going for a manicure at The She Shed or ...grabbing lunch at Ogimaa Cafe for example. They’ve also collaborated with some other business in town like Boston Pizza. They offered their customers a discount on take-out for showing their Jeans Unlimited receipt. That was pretty cool and they’re looking to do more fun partnerships like this in the future. Additionally the staff at Jeans Unlimited try to utilize services from their friends in the area as much as they can, like when we renovated our store Gray’s Paint and Flooring really came through for us to elevate the aesthetic of our space. The Team at Dainty Delights always helps us out too whenever we need a garment tailored for a customer. The Trading Post is one of our favourite stores too, whenever we can have friends and family up to visit we always make a stop there! They’re all super supportive of us in turn and we like to champion this sort of camaraderie! Jeans Unlimited is constantly donating clothing and accessories because there are a ton of people in need right now. The privilege of owning their own business is not lost on them, it’s a really great feeling being able to give back as much as they want when they want. Especially when it's a cute outfit! When they aren't locked down, Jeans Unlimited host quite a few private after-hours shopping events! You can reserve a time slot and they’ll shut the store down while you and your party get 1-on-1 styling consultations. It’s a lot of fun! Jeans Unlimited just recently introduced an all natural bath & body line from Embody Nature and they’re hoping someday we’ll be able to have personalized skincare consultations as well. Keep an eye out for our draws and giveaways too! Jeans Unlimited really want everyone to know that they’re more than just jeans. Yes, denim is our specialty but they’re almost like a one-stop-shop because you can find everything from apparel to accessories and footwear for men and women of all ages and sizes! Today’s #FeatureFriday is one of the first professional services we’ve featured. Happy to share with you Ben Prichard, Lawyer. Ben has been in business since 2014. He cut his teeth as a lawyer downtown Toronto, but, despite enjoying the high profile work, he did not enjoy the lifestyle and decided to move back home to Parry Sound. He chose Parry Sound because this is where he was raised. He loves the outdoors, the people. In our community, and housing is affordable. As such..., Ben moved home as there was an opportunity to work under the mentorship of a well-regarded lawyer named Joel W. Kennedy. Less than a year after returning home he saw there was a good opportunity to open his own firm, but he maintained close ties with Joel W. Kennedy when starting out. When Ben first started on his own, he was on his feet a lot in court litigating, but over time he has slowly been taking on more solicitor work in the office. Ben’s firm offers a variety of services, from incorporation to construction liens, but he has increasingly been focussing on real estate law in the last two years. Our second #FeatureFriday of 2021 is of Evolve Fitness Parry Sound A prominent downtown location, Evolve is a great spot for your fitness, health, and coaching needs. Brenda purchased Evolve in October of 2019 from Tina, who owned and operated "Tina's Fitness Studio". Brenda worked closely with Tina at the studio for over 9 years teaching fitness classes, personal training, and helping to manage the gym. It was almost a natural progression when she decided to sell the busines...s in 2019; it was a very easy transition into Brenda’s role as owner. Since last year Brenda is happy to say that she has made many equipment upgrades including purchasing 10 brand new top-of-the-line spin bikes for classes, a new power rack, a new elliptical, and many smaller pieces of equipment, as well as made improvements to the studio. The goal at Evolve is to make health and wellness accessible to the community. They believe movement is a key principle to not just physical health, but mental health. Their classes are for all levels and they have clients of all different abilities. Evolve pride themselves in having a welcoming environment and inclusivity. They also partner with local businesses and organizations to help facilitate wellness programs for their clients and staff. Evolve is a 24-hour facility so our members can access the gym any time of day, 7 days a week. They also offer a variety of fitness classes including spinning, boot camp, HIIT class, yoga, and more. (Currently closed per the government mandate.) Evolve has staff who offer personal training sessions which can also be done virtually, and also have a virtual platform for our classes which can be either live-streamed or downloaded. Our first #FeatureFriday of the New Year, is of the franchise Boston Pizza! Shannon and Seanan purchased the restaurant on July 1st 2019. Although new to the community, Seanan has been with Boston Pizza for 31 years. He left their corporate office and his partnerships to pursue the Parry Sound restaurant. The couple pulled up all of their roots in Toronto, to run Boston Pizza Parry Sound. They are very community orientated, and currently part of the DBA Board and DBA Marketin...g committee. Since they purchased the restaurant, they have started celebrity serve events which help fundraise for several local organizations and trying to do their part to give back to the community. Since they purchased the restaurant, they have brought the store from a rating of 340 out of 344 locations to one of the top-performing locations in Canada! Beverlys has been another staple to our Downtown, and even with the devastating fire a few months back, she continues to provide her amazing baskets, all while providing amazing donations and services to the Parry Sound area. Beverly opened her store in October of 1998. She has a passion for creating, and a background in Business Management and Interior Design. Her store was located in in the beautiful historic Beatty Building until May of... 2020. She is so happy to have secured a temporary location @ 7 James St. (just a short walk from our previous location).This location enables her to continue to do what she loves, making her Gift-Baskets for all her wonderful customers. Beverly is available for phone orders and also has a website for online ordering, https://giftbasketsbybeverlys.com/ She creates one basket at a time, specifically made for each customer, all while ensuring all safety protocols are in place while creating. Beverly loves our community and grew up here, so she is always giving back in every way she can - having donated to many individuals in need throughout the years, as well as the West Parry Sound Health Centre, The Rach Foundation,Hospice, Harvest Share, The Salvation Army Community Living, Canadian Mental Health, Community Living and Area Schools. Beverly was happy to serve on the Board of Directors for the Parry Sound DBA for several years, and was also a part of the Chamber Of Commerce. It has always been important for Beverly to be a connected part of the community, and to give back to the people who support her store, and her livelihood. She’s always wanted to make our community stronger by working together. Beverly looks forward to serving our community for many years to come and would like to wish everyone a safe and Happy Holiday, Merry Christmas!
