Hi all. Ortho is a relationship dental service, rather than the drill fill and bill standard everyone with fee for service attitudes is used to. Co-morbidities in growth and development do have an effect on the developing cranio-facial complex., and this starts at birth. Orthodontists usually see their patients when something is wrong, either seen by the GP or the parent. They are then able to diagnose and treat accordingly going forward. They cannot at that point correct wh...at has already happened. As a result some treatments extend beyond the usual 2-3 year bracket treatment. And may also involve surgery. Diagnosis for proper comprehensive Orthodontic treatment is of the utmost importance. However more important is the development of co-morbidity recognition and correction in the dental GP This knowledge will lessen or eliminate the need for orthodontic correction in the non-genetically impacted growing child. Hultcratz showed that 50-77% of cases normalize after T&A surgeries Paul Wemerson 2016 U Of Ohio shows that holding arches in MD will create 5mm lower and 2.5mm upper space. (Leeway space) these are all passive things a GP can do to mitigate the development of orthodontic problems. GP’s in conjunction with peadodontists, MD’s, orthodontists and oral therapists can do a lot regarding guidance of proper faciodentitional development. So when it gets to the question bands versus invisalign, it is usually too late already. INVISALIGN has its place as do braces, but as a GP the most important orthodontic pearl I can offer is for the GP to cultivate professional relationships with collateral professionals and take growth and development courses, so you can really provide great service to the families in your practices. With this Covid-19 state of emergency, we have been advised to treat only emergencies, so clipping archwire that are irritating and can not be tamed with wax. Or fixed appliances that dislodge, broken brackets and such. If you can manage these things by wax or sugarless gum then you will not have to go outside the house and potentially expose yourself to transmission of this virus. Your treatment will not be negatively impacted by this hiatus, just make sure you practice good... oral hygiene and wear your aligners or elastics as instructed. You can always send me a picture text of your beautiful smile if you have any questions. See you after this is over. Stay safe and healthy. Miss all of you.

Hello everyone, I am writing to you as a result of the covid-19 precautions recommended by my governing body and adhered to be myself and my staff. We are self isolating and speaking personally I have no Cough Fever or have travelled anywhere of late. We are following the recommendations of Washing hands frequently, using tissues or elbow sleeves for coughing, not touching my face (hard to do) and be mindful of my environment and the people in it. For my orthodontic patien...ts my advice is to be careful with the appliances or brackets so they do not break, if they do please use wax to cover any areas that may irritate you. We will be back providing your care and guiding you toward the treatment end as soon as possible, we need to make sure we have proper Personal Protective Equipment for the procedure at hand, and are looking for guidelines from our registrar so we can open the office hopefully sooner rather than later. I am available via text or phone call for any advice or discussion you may need. My number is 647-207-7398 but please respect the emergency need or time if day before you call. Best regards and I miss all of you Dr. Rob Pasch
