For many of us, winter can be a difficult time. There are financial challenges with increased utility bills and less seasonal work, as well as a range of effects on our mental health from shorter, darker days and difficult weather leading to less opportunity for outside activities. Add in a pandemic with the accompanying safety measures and isolation those challenges can seem insurmountable. With that in mind, the PCFC submitted a proposal to the Ministry for additional fu...nds to try to support people to overcome the challenges they are facing during the winter. A connection with someone who has travelled a similar path in his or her Mental Health or Addiction journey can make all the difference in moving ‘insurmountable’ back down to ‘challenging’. PCFC was successful in receiving additional funds, which will allow us to offer increased services and supports during this winter period. We are here to support you however you need it, please reach out to us at (705) 526-4569. You never need to feel alone. See more

Ontario is working towards a new structure in healthcare that consists of local Ontario Health Teams (OHT) to provide integrated health services to local and defined areas. In the Mental Health & Addictions field, specialized services are often provided to a broader region, which does not directly align with the new local OHT structure. With that in mind, The Patient/Client and Family Council has partnered with a variety of agencies to collaborate toward the creation of a Central Ontario Regional OHT model to support specialized populations. Work is ongoing, with patient co-design a foundational aspiration to guide the work. PCFC is working to understand what processes are already in place to ensure that patient experience is embedded in all we do and along with our partners, map out the next steps required to fulfill this work.
