"The largest, most rigorous independent study on Alcoholics Anonymous to date shows that AA can help people get sober, stay sober, drink less, and suffer fewer negative consequences of drinking, all while keeping health care costs down. Watch scientists John Kelly (Harvard/MGH) and Keith Humphreys (Stanford/VA) discuss their findings (published 3/11/20 by the Cochrane Collaborative), with commentary from psychologist Gabrielle Jones."
Love this. Sharing from Revelatori
Sharing from The Holistic Psychologist. Forgive yourself for what you did when you were still living in survival mode. Then, perhaps take action to move towards living in thriving mode - like embarking on the path of recovery. If forgiveness feels impossible and recovery feels far away, we are here to help.

Sharing from a local and valuable organization NEED 2: Suicide Prevention Education & Support "Tune in on #WorldSuicidePreventionDay, September 10th, to this cross-Canada virtual concert. Since the emergence of Covid, more people than ever have been isolated and suffering in silence. The number of overdose deaths in BC alone are STAGGERING. We will continue to advocate for more recovery supports in our local community. We will continue to share our stories and recover outloud. And we will continue to provide trauma-focused intensive outpatient treatment for all impacted by substance use disorder and addiction. The time is now. We don't need to lose any more members of our community, country, or nation to this epidemic. Take a Naloxone training. Share your stories. Advocate in your community. Please know - there is no shame in reaching out for help, only strength. We are here to listen and we are here to help.
Today, Aug. 31, 2020, is International Overdose Awareness Day a day to recognize the impact of overdose in our communities and to remember those who have been lost. With events and activities taking place around the world, it’s the perfect time to join the global effort to raise awareness of overdose. Here are six ideas for how you can get involved and mark International Overdose Awareness Day... https://www.bclocalnews.com//six-things-to-do-on-interna/
One in seven young people needs treatment for addiction; they are terribly under served in terms of accessible, recovery focussed treatment and are a demographic that is very hard hit by the opioid crisis and resulting overdose deaths. My heart always sinks when I get calls from desperate parents looking for treatment solutions for their adolescents - I feel so powerless because of the lack of options they face. I am looking forward to watching this docuseries about recovering teens, which is premiering next week.
