Today we turn 28. It’s hard to believe we were born 28 years ago on April 11th, 1992 at 25 weeks. 1 lb and 3/4 and 1 lb and a 1/2. Today we’re happy, healthy and changing the world. Today though, it’s not about us. Our focus is the world. We want to remember where we came from and what helped us to get to where we are today- 4 and a half months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and countless people have been a part of our story. Special thanks to all the Doctors, Nurses, he...alth and community professionals and most importantly our family and friends for helping us get to where we are today. We wouldn’t be who and where we are without you. This year looks a little different- not just for us but the world around us. The pandemic has changed the world- forever. Changed the way we live our day to day lives, how we celebrate, how we socialize and so much more. Everyone and everything is impacted by the pandemic, in their own unique way- no two stories or experiences are the same. Our mind shifts to those on the front lines- the Doctors, Nurses, health care professionals, those working in social services, restaurants and supermarkets - to name just a few. We also want to recognize those who have been personally affected by COVID-19- with a family member, friend, loved one or colleague who has fallen ill or died. We also want to recognize those who cannot visit loved ones in the hospital- we think especially of our families in the NICU as they navigate this incredibly stressful time in unprecedented territory. One thing we can all keep in mind as we move forward is that we’re all in this together. Help out a friend, help out a neighbour- if you’re able- small things can make a big difference. Together we are better. To the world and to all who are reading this, we’ll get through this together. Togetherness weaves throughout our story from our first moments to where we are today and how we’ll keep moving forward. Let’s keep moving forward- together. - Deana
