They employ 40,000 Canadians They add $1.8 Billion annually to the Canadian GDP They now have an estimated $900,000,000.00 in prohibited inventory that they can’t return to vendors or sell. Newly prohibited firearms make up a huge part of their sales volume. As with any business volume purchasing allows for lower consumer pricing on all items in the store. A healthy growing business allows for more selection and variety . 40 years ago you had to travel to the USA to get that quality scope or specialty stock or custom ammo for your hunting rifle. Griffins Guns had what they had and that was that. When they start banning handguns in the next wave of regulation, the businesses that do survive the losses will not have enough traffic to keep the large inventory stores open. We will be back to a few one man shops and the chain stores again. While the chain stores may still offer good prices you will have a choice of what their buyers picked a year before at Shot Show and you will have to keep your trade-in. Those of you reading this know me or one of my friends. I need your help. I have been competitively shooting since 1980.... My adult son and I compete not only in Canada but in the United States as well. We each belong to four different world recognized shooting disciplines which all have their own equipment requirements and rules One ( IPSC ) was officially granted observer status by the GAISF as it is being considered as an Olympic Sport. Just go to YouTube and type in Action Shooting and you will see hours of videos of people just like you and I participating in a wide variety of safe exciting family fun, but this has suddenly changed for my family and I. As of May 1st of this year by Order in Council many of the firearms I can use for competition and hunting have been newly classified as prohibited. I am not allowed to take them to the club to use or to sell them. It has been promised that more of the firearms I use will also be reclassified in the near future by the same means thus ending my 40 years of competitive shooting.
