For the past two weeks, 200 firefighters and fire managers from Parks Canada and the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario have aided in the suppre...ssion of the #Lionsheadfire. They worked with their American counterparts at every level, from hand crews cutting line to incident command staff. Pacific Northwest Team 13 would like to thank them for their invaluable assistance. #mthoodnf #willamettenf #deschutesnf #thankyou #Canada #firefighters Parks Canada
Supporting residents displaced by the fire at Park and Hunter streets With the outpouring of community support for residents displaced by the fire at Park and H...unter streets on Sunday, September 20, 2020, people who want to donate are asked to provide gift cards instead of clothing, furniture or household items at this time. The residents who are temporarily in a hotel are not able to store donated items. They are working with community agencies to find alternative housing. People who want to donate gift cards for the residents can drop off gift cards at the main Peterborough Fire Services fire hall at 210 Sherbrooke St, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. About 30 people have been displaced by the fire at an apartment building at 386 Park St. N., 384 Park St. N., and 369 Hunter St. W. Community agencies are connecting with the residents to provide support, including help with immediate needs for shelter, food and clothing. Thank you to everyone who has stepped forward to offer support to these residents who have lost their homes and their belongings, said Jodi DeNoble, Manager, Emergency and Risk Management with the City of Peterborough. Once the residents have plans for their housing, they’ll have a better idea of the items they may need and when they can accept any donated items. Until then, gift cards will help them get items specific to meet their needs at this time.
Peterborough Professional Fire Fighter Mike Coons is once again proudly representing the PPFFA and Peterborough Fire Service in the 2020 Easter Seals telethon. "Everyone involved with Easter Seals completely understands how difficult 2020 has been financially and emotionally. But its for that exact reason why we need to find a way to dig just a little deeper this year and do what we can to help Easter Seals so that they can continue to assist the amazing families and the amaz...ing kids! It is my honour to be part of this years fund raiser and by following the link to my donation page I would greatly appreciate your donation of what ever you can spare. Every little bit helps!" https://secure.e2rm.com/registrant/FundraisingPage.aspx
You never know who is going to show up at the fire hall! lol
It is completely natural to feel stress and concern during these times and it is important to talk about your feelings. Visit www.peterboroughpublichealth.ca//novel-coronavirus-covid-/ for more information.
Stay safe and enjoy the warm weather!

A milder winter has made for unstable ice conditions. Just this past weekend, a snowmobiler lost his life. If venturing out, know the area, be prepared to self-rescue, have a safety plan in place and tell someone. If in doubt, don’t go out it’s not worth it. No ice is safe ice.
We are all one. No one is alone.
We are all one family. With heavy hearts we stand in support of our brothers and sisters of the Toronto Police service and Officer Austin’s family.
