#PinkShirtDay Virtual Style!
Warmer temperatures are a great opportunity for Day Program clients to get outside for physical activity and some vitamin D! But icy sidewalks can pose a risk. Review the following Winter Walking Safety tips to prevent falls and ensure a safe outdoor experience!
It's #pinkshirtday. Are you wearing pink today? We would love to see it - share below!
The Residential Program is in full swing here at the Roozen Family Hospice Centre. We have had 5 admissions to date with residents and their families expressing their gratitude for the care being provided to their loved ones. We truly appreciate the trust placed in our wonderful care team!
Though our halls our quiet this year, we remember all the amazing times we've had together, and look forward to the new memories we'll make once we're together again! Wishing all of our Day Program clients, their families, and our volunteers a safe and peaceful holiday season.
It's Christmas Eve! Enjoy the day!
To all those grieving the loss of someone you love, we hold you in our hearts today and thru the season, as you remember, with light and love.
THANK YOU Eden Textile for the extremely generous donation of linens, pillows, blankets etc. We are so grateful for your kindness and we know our clients will be as well!
Thank you to everyone who shared our post. We heard from wonderful organizations who have offered to help us out. Thank you EPCOR Canada and River City Events!
We are looking for a Supervisor of Dietary Services to join our team. Is that you? Check out the position details!
Note from Cheryl, Director, Grief Support Services "Children are the forgotten mourners." - Dr. Alan Wolfelt Children's Grief Awareness Day is an annual event that this year will be observed this Thursday, November 19th, 2020. Created in the U.S. in 2008, the movement has gained popularity with the knowledge that children and teens do experience grief when someone they love dies. For decades, the belief that children and teens are "resilient" and did not need specialized supp...ort created several generations of young mourners with no outlet to express their feelings and no concrete psycho-educational programs to help guide their personal grief journeys. We now know that those children and teens who do receive support are less likely to engage in destructive behaviors and have healthier outcomes than those who receive no education and/or compassion. At the Pilgrims Hospice Society, we are proud to offer the Expressive Arts Program for Grieving Children, Teens and Families for the Greater Edmonton Region. With no fees, two locations and now Zoom Links as an alternative delivery option, our reach and capacity have grown greatly in the 20 years that this unique program has operated. Funded by donations, corporate sponsorships, grants and in kind gifts, EA provides children from 6 to 12 years of age, and teens ages 13 and up (and their families) a safe place to learn about grief and explore this difficult journey with others who understand and facilitators who expertly present the curriculum, with compassion and heart. On Thursday, November 19th, 2020, we invite the community to "wear blue" and show our grieving children and teens that we all care and are here to help. Won't you join in and "wear blue" with us?
A note from Kelly, Director, Residential Care So much excitement in the Residential Program right now! Hiring for all positions will be happening soon. We will be posting positions on Indeed so keep an eye on our social media. Work is being done to be sure we have all of the equip & supplies we need to be able to admit our first residents in the new year, from band-aids to mechanical lifts!
