What is everyone upto today? We just finished editing day 2 of this wedding. So we are prepping the gallery to send both day 1 and day 2 today and start editing day 3. If you have been following our story, you know that is was a 3 day wedding we recently did. Day 1 is Jaggo from the Grooms side. Day 2 is the actual wedding and some rituals. Day 3 is the wedding reception. ... Who else loves the colors here. It was perfect for late fall. Even though I ( nandini) am from India I never really knew what happened in a Sikh wedding till we started Photography as a business here in Canada. I never got a chance to visit a Gurudwara before.. This is one thing I love more about weddings , we get to learn and experience different cultures, traditions and all the love from family and friends. We dont even want to start on all the amazing food we get to try . Jay is still craving the middle eastern food from Mary's wedding back in October So what happens at a sikh wedding? The ceremony takes place in a Gurudwara (Sikh temple) where hymns are sung. The bride and groom sit side by side and the girl is on the left side. The Groom wears a sash over his shoulder and the bride's father hands the other end to the bride. For each hymn they walk around the Guru Granth Sahib.Mostly 4 hyms are sung and after that hymn of Anand Sahib is read. Then there is Ardaas of completion of ceremony. Then a sweet pudding is distributed to everyone present. Each tradition and culture has a story and we are hoping one day we get to witness all the beautiful cultures of the world.
