Graphic photo! The trauma side of plastic surgery. This was a recent case I did while on trauma call. A lady unfortunately fell and cut her forearm. These are the major nerves and blood vessels that provide sensation, power and blood supply to the hand. I repaired them using a microscope (30-40x magnification ). The blue squares are 1mm wide so these structures are a few millimeters in diameter. The thin black strands are the sutures (white arrows) I use to sew the ends... together - they are 0.03 mm wide (thinner than hair). Do you guys know what vessels and nerves these are? This client was wonderful to work with. She reached out after not being able to find a surgeon in Canada willing to help and was about to head down to the US.
