To say reopening a childrens theatre would be easy is a huge understatement. Our leadership team has been working tirelessly over the last weeks on the return of Paramount Live theatre classes. We especially appreciate the enormous assistance that the Thunder Bay District Health Unit has provided us during these unprecedented times on the safe return of our students for in person rehearsals. It would be easy to open up with a bunch a hypothetical ideas about how wed manage... it and when the performances are, but that is almost impossible as times and guidelines are changing everyday. These are not normal times, but we wish to ensure our creative kids have a safe space and a family friendly environment to develop their theatre skills at. There are a lot of details to iron out to ensure as many of your concerns as a parent are addressed. The safety of the students has always been and will be our top priority. If conditions continue to improve, Paramount Live will return in September with our current 2020 programs that we started in the winter. In theatre there is a saying that the show must go on these young people did not get a chance to finish their programs. We will honour the journey that we began and continue where we left off. We are working through many details to ensure a safe and healthy return for all. For example, some measures that we are looking at include smaller p...rogram class sizes ie. kids show A being split in two groups and rehearsing their own production of the same script. Implementing other Health Unit recommendations. New performance dates for all the program shows and live performances pending best practices as guided by government and health agencies. All this is currently under review and we plan to announce further details in due time. We are all in this together as they say during this COVID-19 pandemic, but our families who have supported us over our 10+ years should not have to be out of pocket for a program not completed. No additional enrolment fees will be charged this fall for our current young people to continue the journey they began with us at the beginning of the year. If there is a demand for new young people wishing to join our theatre family we will announce those programs soon too. Please feel free to send us a message if youre interested. Stay safe. The Shows Must Go On! has been bringing us classic Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals for weeks now and I guess it was time to switch things up a little bit. Tomorrow, Friday May 22, get ready to enjoy the beloved Rodgers & Hammerstein classic The Sound of Music. This show will be available starting at 2pm Eastern and will be streamed for free on youtube for 48hrs. Grammy Award-winning music superstar Carrie Underwood stars in The Sound of Music Live!
