Here are some favourite from us that are good for a variety of reasons: Ornamental grasses: They are usually full sun, require little water and are generally pretty low-maintenance kind of plant. Since they grow tall, they also provide great privacy if you are a daring kind of person and go skinny dipping. ;)... Herbs: Herbs, like basil, lemon thyme, mint and rosemary are really great bug repellent plants. While you’re trying to relax, keeping bugs away is key. Bonus, you can cook with the herbs too! Succulents: These pretty little plants are hearty and can surprisingly last through Winnipeg winters with proper care. They don’t like to be watered much, so they can withstand some neglect. We also love that they don’t shed their leaves and clog up your pools! Now every back yard and pool area is different, so you do you and plant whatever suits you best!
