Update on the Porters Lake Community Centre Annual Tree Lighting in conjunction with the Porters Lake Business Association being held on November 29th. Covid-19 has definitely changed a lot things for us all but we at the Community Centre and the Business Association want to spread some cheer to our community! So we are going virtual and allowing people in cars to the event!

Spreading some Eastern Shore love tonight! Lily’s Hill aquired a jr. zamboni today! Lily and I were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to meet up with t...wo longtime volunteers from the Porter’s Lake Community Centre: Max White and his daughter Pam White Lewis. Together these two headed down the shore to deliver a zamboni that they once used at their outdoor rink. The zamboni was funded for Lily’s Hill by David Andrew Hendsbee. We would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Councillor David Hendsbee for always thinking of the hill. Special thanks to Max and Pam for bringing the zamboni to us! While the ice surface at the Hill is huge 100’ x 200’ this little unit should help in resurfacing areas that need it most. Despite some uphill battles we are facing as we move toward our winter 2020/21 there is always something positive happening to keep moving us forward. Sending love and thanks to all involved . Hey friends; We all know 2020 has been a difficult & trying time for all. Especially at this time of the year, those of lessor means find making ends meet parti...cularly difficult. In an effort to lend a helping hand, I am going to start collecting personal hygiene items to distribute to local shelters & homeless folks. Many of these items are usually overlooked when donations are made to local charities. I’m looking for (but not limited to) the following items - - feminine hygiene products - toothpaste/toothbrushes - deodorant - adult diapers - hand sanitizer - shampoo/conditioner (travel size or regular) - soap - shaving cream - razors - baby wipes - combs/hair brushes - socks - hats/mitts/gloves - gift cards - blankets These items can be dropped off at my home - 4480 Highway 7 in Porter’s Lake. There will be a blue tote at the bottom of the steps that items can be left in. Items can also be dropped off at the upcoming tree lighting being held at the Porter’s Lake Community Centre (4693 Hwy 7) on November 29. If you have items to donate but are unable to drop off, please message me & I will pick them up. Donations will be accepted until December 16 & will be sanitized before being passed along. Thanks for your support!
