Hopefully this fish farm closure near Campbell River will help the wild salmon population, and hence the orcas will have more food supply so they can strengthen their numbers too.

Last night Santa's Christmas Ships cruised around in Belcarra Bay near Boulder Island. They had about 18 boats in the parade, accompanied by Christmas music and fireworks! Check out their livestream videos on their page. Merry HoHoHo!! https://www.facebook.com/santaschristmasships/videos/1112080699251241/

As you are likely aware, Transport Canada is considering several changes that will affect the recreational boating industry. These changes include Pleasure Craft Licenses (PCL) renewals and fees, Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) renewals and removing the Rental Boat Safety Checklist (RBSC) as proof of competency when renting a self-driven pleasure craft. The National Recreational Boating Advisory Council (NRBAC) is meeting next week and it is imperative that Boating BC rep...resent the industry's collective thoughts and concerns regarding these proposed changes. Of particular interest in this survey is the proposed changes to the Rental Boat Safety Checklist as proof of competency. Transport Canada is asking for online feedback which you can also access here. Please fill out the following survey as soon as possible to give us the necessary feedback to take to Transport Canada and the NRBAC meetings. We are also working with our MTA counterparts across the country as well as NMMA Canada and a coordinated approach to this issue. Please feel free to share this survey with other boat rental operators. Survey Link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/9YCHYLP Survey will close on Sunday, December 13th. Please feel free to share this survey with other boat rental operators.

Hi everyone. Four days to go until Santa’s Christmas Ships come to town. We would like to remind everyone of the COVID-19 restrictions and we are counting o...n you to abide by them. The skippers of all the vessels will only have their household members with them, unfortunately no guests will be on invited on board this year. We ask all the spectators to do the same. Please do not get too close to people outside your household bubble. As a reminder, here are the province-wide COVID-19 restrictions. Please follow them. https://www2.gov.bc.ca//covid-19-provincial-s/restrictions

PMPSS is raising money to help local families in need during Christmas again this year. If you can, could you please open your heart again this year and make a donation? We would love to come together and have PMPSS give another nice cheque to the SHARE Society this year, and make Christmas special for some of our neighbours in need. Thank you all!! https://www.gofundme.com/f/pmpss-christmas-support-for-loca

Public Service Announcement I finally got my flu shot!! Here’s how you can too. First check your eligibility and get a confirmation code to give the pharmacy by taking this survey: ... https://access.eforms.shoppersdrugmart.ca/flu/ Then find a pharmacy with the flu shot in stock. I found one 15 minutes from my house after scrolling past 12 pharmacies closer to me that don’t have it in stock. And the place I went will run out of stock tomorrow they say... https://www1.shoppersdrugmart.ca//pharmacy-servic/flu-shot Stay safe everyone.

This is a different year in so many ways. Instead of running courses in person at each squadron, we are all running courses virtually which means if you missed the one that started on Sept 17, you may still be able to start another course that begins in October. Check it out and let us know if you want to take any boating courses.

Today, Vancouver was ranked #1, tied with Portland OR, for worse air quality worldwide. If you have to go outside, make sure you’re wearing a respirator. There is carbon monoxide and methane in the smoke.

Be careful on the water. The incoming smoke from the forest fires in Washington, Oregon & California is making visibility difficult up here in B.C. Scroll down for a satellite image.
