Postech will install this pile in a special ceremony in Winnipeg Manitoba, on Thursday June 13th. In 25 years of existence, our company has contributed to the construction or renovation of many buildings throughout Canada. SCREW PILES vs CONCRETE There are many advantages of using screw piles rather than traditional concrete foundation methods. Here are a few of them: SCREW PILE... - Installation can be done in almost all types of soil (except for frozen) and in all weather conditions. - Reusable and ecological product. - Lower cost, less down time. No landscaping damages. - Minimal equipment, simple access. A one man job most of the time. - Clean, no excavation needed to install. - Planning is limited to installing markers showing the installation site and height above ground needed. CONCRETE - Limited to dry, above freezing conditions. - Impossible to reuse. - Excavation, dirt, drying time, landscaping required. - Many pieces of equipment and people running around. - Leftover material, excavation needed, heavy concrete truck damaging your landscaping and paved driveway. - Excavation, forms, concrete, and many hours of installation. This week's frequently asked question is....WHAT LOAD CAN A PILE CARRY? The loads or weight that a pile may carry is determined by the type of soil in which it ...is installed. The denser the soil, the higher the load bearing capacity will be. In very loose soil, the Postech installer will decide between a bigger blade or extensions (to reach denser soil) so that the necessary torques will have been reached. While installing the last few inches of the screw pile, the trained Postech installer validates hydraulic pressure, with the help of a pressure gauge located on the excavator arm. He then can assure, thanks to a precise guide chart, the load bearing capacity of the pile. #FAQthursdays
