We stand in solidarity with calls from Black and Indigenous communities to address systemic anti-Black and anti-Indigenous racism, defunding the police, and rea...llocating funds to support response systems backed by public health research. Join us and Doctors for Defunding Police along with Black Public Health Collective, Caring for People Who are Detained Zine, and activist and social worker Tracey Mann in a lively discussion and Q&A around carcerality and health care. Toronto Police Service is the single largest expense item in Toronto’s budget. That means the largest portion of tax dollars are going to fund policing rather than meeting the direct needs of our communities. In 2020, the Toronto Police’s net operating budget was approx $1.08 billion - more than the City’s budget for Toronto Community Housing; shelters, support and housing services; transportation; employment and social services; and the Toronto Public Library COMBINED. 2021 is going to be different. We’re going to continue the fight to defund, disarm, and dismantle the Toronto police to prioritize and invest in communities. Join us on April 14th, and come imagine new possibilities! Tuesday May 4, 2021 | 6:30 - 8:00 PM EDT Register: https://tinyurl.com/defundpolice4healthcare ACCESS NOTES: We are working to confirm ASL interpretation. Closed captioning will be available. Please be in touch with any other specific access needs or questions. #DefundThePolice #DefundTPS

For clarity: consistent to @WorldPhysio1951's 1) policies 2) EN -> "other languages" AI caption/translation initiative the content delivered in this session can be 100% in English. Our team developed a strategy that is consistent to #'s 1 & 2 but also #diversity & #inclusion. ~~~ Whereas #WorldPhysio2021 demands that all speakers be able to express themselves in Flag of United Kingdom/Flag of United States, we devoted our own time & energy to maximize the #opportunities afforded by this year's online congress format. To be specific, @anacarollucato will translate offline for @Fercockell . ~~~ As we say in Montreal, "s'pas compliqué": @Fercockell is visibly present but muted in one box while @anacarollucato is audible from another box. If Ana is allowed to enter the Zoom meeting, #globaPT will be able to benefit from the depth of expertise that Fernanda brings. In the process, a colleague who has previously been #excluded from @WorldPhysio1951 events would be #included. And the congress will be a step closer to actually reflecting the diversity of #globalPT. With a solution costing participants/organizers NOTHING. ~~~ The question remains: will @anacarollucato be able to join our session on @JusticeRehab on Saturday so that @fercockell will be heard? So that @WorldPhysio1951 's objectives of being global, diverse & inclusive will be upheld? TBD / À voir / Vamos a ver / N'ap gade pou nou wè #globalPT #diversity #inclusion #edi
