Hello Everyone , As per the new COVID 19 restrictions announced earlier this afternoon (Feb. 8th, 2021) , the Prince of Wales Skating Club have suspended all skating programs until the restrictions are lifted by the Province. The arenas are closed to the public. We are hoping to continue programming as soon as the restrictions lift. ... We will continue to stay in contact and send updates when available. Stay Safe! Skate Canada has indicated that the Skate Canada Challenge event, to be held in November 2020, will consist only of Junior and Senior categories. We have verif...ied that our Section does not have any athletes training to compete at Challenge at the Junior or Senior Level, therefore in keeping with our safety first priority and in compliance with current government Covid -19 restrictions surrounding provincial championships the 2021 SCNL Sectional Championships scheduled for November 2020 at the Mount Pearl Glacier have been cancelled. ATTENTION Parents registering skaters for our FALL 2020 CanSkate programs: PreCanSkate classes for the Fall of 2020 will NOT be offered due to COVID-19 restrictions. Skater's registering for CanSkate must have at least one (1) CanSkate Stage 1 ribbon in order to register for Fall 2020.... See below dates and times for Fall CanSkate, CanPowerSkate and Synchronized skating.
Registration for FALL only, will open on-line (or via telephone for those having issues) for the 2020-2021 skating season for the following Fall programs only. Winter registration will be available in November, exact date TBD. COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS (FALL 2020) Door will open 10 minutes prior to the start of each session. Once the session starts the doors will be closed and locked. No one will be allowed in until the session is over due to the sanitizing of the arena. ... Only one parent will be permitted inside the arena, skaters must have skates on when walking into the arena. Public Washrooms will be open - only one person at a time. The mezzanine area is closed and no one is permitted upstairs. Hand sanitizers are available at each of the entrances. Skater’s are to enter the front doors of the arena and exit through the Emergency Exit at the end of the rink. CanPowerSkate Early Fall and Fall ONLY August 18 5:00pm STARSkate Fall ONLY August 18th FOR CURRENT CLUB MEMBERS Senior 5:00pm; Intermediate 6:00pm; Junior 7pm NEW CLUB MEMBERS - August 19th CanSkate / PreSTAR Fall ONLY August 19 - 5:00pm Synchronized Skating Fall ONLY - August 19 5:00pm Visit our website: powsc.ca to register. At the end of each season we celebrate our skaters outstanding achievements with awards presented at our annual ice show and skaters banquet. Sadly this year we were unable to hold either. Although we wish this presentation could be made in person, we want to showcase our hardworking skaters virtually and celebrate their success!
