Fabrication day in the shop. I'm turning this old rough mirror into a better version of itself. Instead of suspending the mirror with those old cheesy looking clips, I am spending the extra time to stream line it's look. Using my plunge router on a tramel, I am cutting a groove so the new mirror sits flush on the soon to be refinished frame. Along with that, my customer had a new mirror cut smaller so the frame shows some more. On one side of the shop I am finish spraying a blanket chest, and on the other major structural repairs on another chest. I'm gong to be replacing the veneer in its entirety on the waterfall lid as well as the front bottom panel. But before the latter can be veneered I had to remove the sub frame, reglue and also add some fillets to replace missing pieces. One of the greatest feelings as a foster is to have the opportunity to take care of great cats like Fletcher. He is a big boy with little meows and a huge heart. He will always follow you from room to room to keep you company, and he loves his head boops. We currently have him with us again for a week to clear up his eye issue then he will be ready for adoption. I swear you will never find a better companion. Steve

My customer bought this modified sideboard in Ontario a while back, but the legs were damaged while moving. It's no wonder. I pointed out to her that whomever sold it had modified with longer legs from a coffee table to give it this tall stature. A great mod to be sure, and looks great. However, it was definitely not completed properly to avoid an errant foot collapsing the leg. As you can see from some of the pics, extra screws were run in at odd angles splitting the ends and not really helping in any way. I removed all the legs, epoxied all the cavities, and then fabricated proper corner gussets to tie the legs to the fascia boards....now it's strong! #doitrightthefirsttime #woodfabrication #furniturerepair #repairingfurniture #furniturerefinishing #refinishingfurniture #204 #ywg

A set of four chairs from a church in southern Manitoba is brought back to life with a full strip and refinishing. My customers late stepfather found these years ago and passed them on to her. She wanted them refreshed as a keepsake. Just finished four of these Windsor chairs for a customer. They wanted the original finish left intact so I mixed up a fresh batch of garnet shellac flakes and freshened up these pieces. Refinished, restored and reupholstered MCM chairs.....in two flavours. These beautiful chairs had seen better days and were ready for some proper restoration. The one chair had been improperly repaired in the past using the wrong seating straps. I found a place in Oregon that had the reproduction hoop coils to replace the leatherette straps used. Apart from refinishing for a living and the numerous other little hobbies I have, I am also a foster for the Winnipeg Humane Society. This past couple of weeks my wife and I have had five orphaned 'bottle babies' we are taking care of. That means its being available to feed them every 3 to 4 hours, and to help them relieve themselves.
