It’s been a snowy season for some of our staff! Check out the link in our Instagram bio for the full story! Or here for Facebook: https://www.projectsnowstorm.org/posts/a-whole-lotta-news/ This year we have had the opportunity to trap not 1 but 2 snowy owls with GPS-GSM transmitters installed by Project Snowstorm. Our first was Dorval (at least 7 years old) who we trapped and relocated just before Christmas.... Another was Redwood a gorgeous almost white male (at least 4 years old) who was photographed on EBird and it could be seen his GPS strap was chewed and so we stepped in to trap and remove the device (Covid prevented a new device being reinstalled) We are hoping to team up with Project Snowstorm next season to be able to install GPS systems on more of the snowy owls we relocate. If you are able to Please Donate! This helps provide the funds for more GPS units! https://charity.gofundme.com//camp/projectsnowstorm2020-21 #snowyowl #buboscandiacus #predatorbirdservices #predatorbird #raptor #hawk #birdabatement #projectsnowstorm

Repost from @salthaven_org HAPPY ENDINGS You might remember the story we shared last month about a young Cooper’s Hawk that had fallen out of its nest when it was damaged in a storm. With help from @thegirlwhoclimbs, we repaired the nest and reunited the baby with its family. Well, the story doesn’t end there. Not long after, we received a call that two babies had fallen out of the nest. One had passed away but the other was admitted to Salthaven when Steve Bucciarelli of @pr...edatorbirdservicesinc offered to help. He had a pair of Harris Hawks with nesting babies, so the Cooper’s Hawk was put in with them for feeding. Young birds grow faster without stress and it was important to keep his growth rate similar to his siblings back home. When the Coopers Hawk had all of his flight feathers, we took him back out to his nesting area. There was still one fledgling in the nest, the others had left, so the timing was perfect. When we released the Cooper’s Hawk it immediately flew up into a tree and dad was right there, ready to be reunited with his boy. Another successful release! #Salthaven #wildlife #rehabilitation #nonprofit #donate #volunteer #educate #ldnont #londonontario #raptors #birdsofprey #successfulrelease #hawk #hawksofinstagram #coopershawk #harrishawk
