Switch off your lights for an hour on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 8:30 pm your local time. It's Earth Hour. Let us all give Mother Earth a break! #EarthHour2021 #HomePlanetEarth
My prayer for 2021 is that the brokenness and death of 2020 will miraculously be transformed into New Life!
Both of our worlds come together in this image. Merry Christmas to all.
Hope there is room in our Inn for the Child!
I just want to add for the benefit of newcomers to this page, although the school began its days as a training ground for potential Presentation Brothers, these many years later, this social media page is essentially non-denominational. Some of us former students may still be practicing Catholics, some may still consider themselves Christians, some search for some sort of spiritual meaning, and some of us are atheists. Regardless, all former students, family members, friends are welcome to join and catch up with former classmates.
Here's a picture of Shawn Urlocker, the author of Brothers In Montebello. Anyone remember him? Looks like he was there in the early 1970's but not so early that I {Br. Robert} would have met him.
I just finished reading a book entitled "BROTHERS IN MONTEBELLO" by Shawn Urlocker. Having been both a student and teacher at this illustrious institution I found it a reasonably good read. Not too sure about those who have no idea about the place or people being discussed.
Today we start Advent, four weeks of preparation. 1st Candle is lit as a sign of HOPE. Lots of happenings will occur between now and Christmas. Embrace them all especially those that come from deep within.
Bishop Alfred Agyenta of the Navrongo Diocese in Ghana visits us in Toronto. He is a past student of mine from Notre Dame in Navrongo. I trust everyone remembers Br. Henry Spencer who continues his Chaplaincy word at Brebeuf College.
In loving memory to all those who gave so much for the freedoms we often take for granted.
How many of you remember this scene?
And what a story each of us is becoming.
Denis Prevost sent me this having found my email address through Greg Donovan. A whole bunch of memories flooded back on seeing this picture. Any of you other guys out there?
Presentation Brothers Juniorate, nestled on the banks of the Ottawa River, in the picturesque town of Montebello Quebec, has many stories to tell. Each young adolescent boy, brought here by Brothers who were hoping to recruit members for their continued work, were well schooled in a private school environment. Even though most chose other vocations and professions the impact the institution had on each of these young men is a living testament to the positive influence education and formation had on this section of society. We have recently forged an "Ole Boyz" group which has gelled and shows signs of vibrancy. Were you one of these? Get in touch with us. Just leave a message and a contact and we'll find you.
The Gang of 4 wandered through the streets of Toronto without serious incident. Guess it was the good training we had at the "Juniourate". Could also be that I kept the other 3 on a short leash.
During our walk we came across the final resting place of Jack Layton. No matter your politics here lies a great man.
