Thinking about Greg Williams at our tribute to him on POT.TV

Marc Emery 11.02.2021

Can’t get Greg’s sudden and disappointing death out of my mind. Such a great person and activist. We will pay tribute today to Greg on what would normally be his show today, From Under The Influence (originally From Under The Seed Desk from 2001-2005) at 4 pm - 6 pm pacific time on POT.TV

My very good friend Greg Williams Marijuana Man is in a bad situation with widespread mastasis of cancer throughout his body and his health quickly has deteriorated. Read what Jodie Emery has written about Greg Williams and his lifetime of work for the cannabis community and see if you would like to help out with his living expenses. https://gofund.me/65ba8cc7

Day 13 of my quarantine. It’s my birthday so here’s my dinner - Turkey! It has snowed all day so here’s my view. Yesterday and today I did the legal Ontario Cannabis Store employee course and passed! Yay! I hope to be working at a legal cannabis store in Hamilton, Ontario by the end of this month! My stash was gifted to me for my birthday by long-time BC grower Carmen whose Instagram I have included by way of a tremendous thanks. I have been two weeks in quarantine in a remote part of the Sunshine Coast of BC and I cannot legally leave this house/property until Monday. Carmen mailed me 28 grams of his most recent harvest of Wedding Cake crosses (9!) weeks ago before my return to Canada and that was incredibly thoughtful of him. @carmen.addario

Lovely last days in Medellin with friends @midori.c and my dear @can_nanys

Thanks to @vegasmmj for the kind words I am lucky enough to receive every day from people all over the world. I am blessed. I’ll be working full time in a legal cannabis shop in Ontario, Canada so come visit me in the New Year and say hello and let us take a photo together. Despite my disappointment at the corporate and government regulated environment legalization creates, the cannabis being produced in the legal market in Canada is overall excellent and continues to improv...e. I look forward to your feedback. I will be working in a legal cannabis shop only one kilometer from where I was born and raised, and only 2 kilometers from where I started Canada’s cannabis revolution exactly 30 years earlier in February 1991, seeking to legalize books & magazines about cannabis which had all been banned in Canada. It all comes full circle as I work daily in a legal cannabis shop 30 years to the day after my campaign began - just down the road from where it all began! See more

Feliz navidad a todos. @midori.c @cannanys A Casa Midori for Christmas dinner as Medellin authorities cancelled Christmas Eve and New Years Eve gatherings and celebrations. At least it’s only two (important days) and no business is forced to close. Nonetheless, I’ll be returning to Canada in January to work at a legal cannabis shop in Ontario once they are allowed to open again to serve consumers in the stores.

It was 40 years ago on December 21, 1980 at 11:50 pm on a full moon in my hometown of London, Ontario that I first got high from pot. Fell in love that night with a woman and a plant. In those days there was no sensimilla buds, rarely even seeded pot, but potent weed oil & hash. It’s been 40 years of adventure, enlightenment and terrific fun.

I’ve had over 100 posts about cannabis forcibly removed from Facebook in the recent 60 days. I’ve been banned for all but 7 days of the last 3 months on Facebook and messenger. Instagram is promising to emulate this Facebook censorship!

Part 2: On Remembrance Day we visited Communa 13 a neighborhood of Medellin where from 1982 to 2002 violence, kidnapping, extortion and other dangerous criminal miscreant behaviour ruled this barrio. First the Escobar narcos, then the Marxist-Communist revolutionary groups, FARC, ELN and numerous others often recruiting or forcing 14-17 year old teenagers to be soldiers for them. Then the counter-insurgency paramilitaries entered to battle the revolutionaries and the crimin...als. The crisis peaked with Colombian army and Medellin police cleaning out the vermin occupiers with an extended siege and door-to-door combat. The violence in the community took another decade to subside but now the barrio is stable and quite a lovely stroll through what is clearly a vastly improved situation for those who live in this, the San Javier neighbourhood. It is now the home to hundreds of wall murals (called graffiti here), a few of which are shown here and in the next 10 photos following. See more

A visit to Botero Plaza. The giant sculptures are by Colombia’s greatest living artist and sculpturer, Fernando Botero. Rubbing the asses or breasts of a Botero sculpture is considered good luck. His personal collection of paintings by himself and others were donated to the people of Colombia and are at the terrific Botero Museum in Bogotá. I have been to the Botero Museum three times in my visits to Bogota. Botero knew every major artist in his time and most major European... artists of the 1930 to 1955 period are represented. Botero was born in Medellin and is now 88 years of age. From Wikipedia; Fernando Botero Angulo (born 19 April 1932) is a Colombian figurative artist and sculptor, born in Medellín. His signature style, also known as "Boterismo", depicts people and figures in large, exaggerated volume, which can represent political criticism or humor, depending on the piece. He is considered the most recognized and quoted living artist from Latin America, and his art can be found in highly visible places around the world, such as Park Avenue in New York City and the Champs-Élysées in Paris.

Seeing The Bird of Paradise flower never gets old. No filter on this photo and it’s actually an overcast day. A day trip out to the countryside in Antioquia, Colombia.

Adriana @cannanys and I were supposed to be together in March for Spring but then the crisis prevented our reunion at our apt in Medellin, Colombia with Adriana’s two children. We are grateful to be together now for the first time in 250 days! In order for me to enter Colombia, I need a Covid test done no later than 96 hours prior to boarding. Canada can’t get that done in time so I am getting a printed CPR Covid test done here in Mexico City. Adriana requires one now also as she joins me in Mexico City for 5 days. Happy together! We at the Senate Cannabis Gardens in Mexico City, a perfect place for us to be after 8 months apart.

Fernando came from Sinaloa to gift me a medtainer of Violator Kush grown indoors. It’s the best pot I’ve smoked in months. I’m grateful too, Sinaloa is hours and hours away.
