For prospective international students. Due to the government of Canada travel restrictions as a result of Covid-19 they are not issuing any new visa to non-essential travelers which includes students. So, until this situation changes Principal Air is not issuing letters of acceptance to any new international students not already in Canada. Check the with Immigration Canada for changes.

Hanger space is available across the taxiway from us. Airspace events has taken a hit during this pandemic and are looking for renters either for one whole hanger or a parking space for planes. If you are interested let me know and I will pass you the info.

For those of you wondering when writtens can be done at TC, this means cpl and instructor writtens including instructor rating flight test, I was informed that since Transport Canada is a federal department it will be decided federally when offices will open. This means that all offices across Canada would open at the same time. For now we wait.

New cleaning to be done before your walkaround.

On Tuesday May 12th. We will be openning operations. To follow with the health authority all students will have to wear a face mask that covers the nose and mouth, this can be home made and is not required to be a medical mask. Also students will be required to wear glasses or sunglasses to cover the eyes. All students will be required to disinfect the aircraft as a part of the new walk around procedures. A video of how to do this will be issued later this week. I know ...this has been a difficult time for everyone, but we are in it together. Transport Canada has reduced the requirements for eligibility to write written exams. CPL students may do there written exams with 50 hours instead of the 100. It is a possibility that flight test might be able to be done without the completion of written exams. We are expecting Transport Canada to be openning up for written exams in the next few weeks. They will have a back log and I suspect that some students licenses and ratings may expire before new ones show up. Please be patient, if you have something expiring please let us know. I will be starting to make bookings for next week tomorrow. We are also requesting that students flying put money on account so that invoices can be done digitally with less contact. Groundschool will not be resuming just yet, but hopefully soon. To keep everyones space we are requesting that for the time being students study at home and not at the office, this will give the instructors space to do briefings. All students are expected to follow our standard policies of illness. If you are sick, feel unwell or have a fever do not come to the office. We are all looking forward to getting back at it, there are going to be some changes that I hope are only for a short while.

For all of our international students that are currently here on visas. The federal government has changed the rules for work. Before you were only allowed to work 20 hours per week, this has been waived until August 31. We know this is a challenging time for everyone. Keep studying we will be back it eventually. I will continue to keep everyone updated. Any of our international students that wish to see the full guidelines of the change email me at [email protected] and I will forward it to you.

I know many of you are working on the online ground school as I can see when everyone has been studying, so great job to everyone working hard. Im sure we will see lots of exams with 90% . Since class is not happening right now, I know navigation can be difficult without the hands on, so I have added 3 pdf notes to the ppl navigation section, on pressure Altitude, airspeeds and true Altitude. If there is anything that you need help with please post the request here and I will add more documents to help you in your studies. Keep up the good work everyone!

For students that are current to go solo, I will be in the office Thursday for rentals. If you wish to go solo please text or call me. Jeannette

Licensed pilots that are current at our school and do not need check rides may rent aircraft provided the following: 1. You fly solo with no passengers, or the passenger is apart of your immediate family that you are isolating with. 2. You may not rent if you have traveled outside BC in the previous 14 days. 3. You stay within the province of bc.... 4. No over night flights 5. Have all your legal documents as per normal. After each rental, aircraft will be cleaned down to in sure there is no spread of covid 19. All after hour privileges are not available at this time. This is not open to non Principal air renters or students. To arrange bookings please speak to me directly by calling the office phone. The office will be open limited hours based on bookings. For the moment the school will remain closed due to covid 19 and the requirements for physical distance. Im hoping that we will be able to allow licensed pilots that do not need check rides to fly solo. I will keep everyone updated as we continue to find out information. More information to come in the next few days. Continue to study so that we can get back at it as soon as possible. Jeannette

In light of the quickly escalating Covid19 crisis and following the recommendations of the BC government we are suspending flight operations for a period of two weeks effective March 22, 2020. Be safe everyone. Mitchell and Jeannette.

For all students that have medicals expiring soon.

We are careful monitoring the situation with covid 19. We will continue with our established policy that if you do not feel well, or if you have a cold of any kind do not come to the school at all. No student will be charged with no show fee for cancelling due to an illness. We would also request that any student with flu like symptoms notify the school by phone or text. This will help us control our environment and keep everyone safe.
