Big Ice Services recovery team was sent up north of Fort McMurray to Fort Chipewyan to recover this partially sunk truck in the fast moving river. It was a chal...lenging setup with dangerous fast moving water. But with careful planning and execution it was lifted out without incident. With a break in grooming, the great volunteers at Thunder Bay Adventure Trails Snowmobile Club are still hard at work building packers. Today we delivered our 3rd packer this winter to Loch Lomond Equipment Sales. Thank you Martin of LLES for the sales and support.

The warm temps have not deterred winter road construction with most Ontario Far North First Nation communities fully engaged to have roads ready for when the cold temps are upon us. Thanks to master road builders Brian Anderson (KI) and John Moonias (Neskantaga) for pictures of their crews hard at work and the status of the projects. Be safe out there!

Many anxious snowmobilers are already contacting the OFSC to ask what today’s Ontario announcement means for snowmobiling. Rest assured that no one wants to kno...w more than we do. But given that the government took 5 days to put their announcement together and that it hasn’t yet updated the supporting regulations, please be patient while we take the required time to assess what if any change may be needed to the message we’ve been delivering since the current shutdown started on Dec 26 - ride locally on available (Yellow or Green) OFSC trails within your public health region while following all public health measures. We’ll post our update as soon as the Province provides more clarity.

Change of operation. We removed the packers and hooked up the drags. We hauled the packers to our shop till we need them for the Northern Lights run. We wil...l be out early tomorrow morning making the bumps go away with the drags. We plan on grooming the trail from Kakabeka Falls to Shabaqua tomorrow, and will keep going till all the trails are tuned up for a great riding experience. We usually do not groom on weekends due to higher traffic levels, but always be prepared to see a groomer at any time. Always check the ITG to check trail availability. On another note, when the groomers went to Gravel Lakes, we noticed the big swamp between the Boreal Road and Mark's Road on the A 110 M, was not packed. If someone wants to do some powder riding, maybe give us a hand and do a bunch of passes on the swamp. We need it sled packed before we can get the groomers out on it. Thank you.

Riding the trails without buying a permit is totally unacceptable and illegal. If you are committed to the sport and enjoy riding groomed trails, then realize the monetary costs involved in preparing such trails ... your permit purchase DOES make a difference!

It’s that time of year everyone, get your tickets for this years raffle sled. This year we will be raffling a 2021 Renegade 600 EFI. Tickets are now on sale at ...the Mall and several other locations around town and of course our irreplaceable club volunteers have tickets as well. We apologize for being a couple weeks behind getting things set up and making sure all health regulations were followed but there is still plenty of time to purchase tickets before the December 28th draw. It will be pretty much business as usual with a few extra safety measures when selling and purchasing tickets. We are also able to do ticket sales via etransfer if that works better for some people.
