Protege Dance Company is so honoured to be the recipient of the 2021 Consumer Choice Award: Schools- Dance in Durham Region. This is such a beautiful and humbling award for us, as the award itself is based on real consumer feedback ie: online reputation and reviews. After the year we've been through (and continue to fight), including a 50% decrease in student enrolment due to the pandemic, our efforts to remain open are non-stop. We are doing our utmost to provide your chi...ld(ren) a safe and positive environment where they continue to grow and learn in dance and as little human beings. We also see the amount of effort and sacrifice our parents put forth in making their child's passion possible. The restructuring of the studio schedule was no easy feat, consequently affecting many household schedules. We see you driving back-and-forth 3, 4, 5, 6 times a week. We see you feeding your child(ren) in your vehicle during breaks. We see you lining up one child at one entrance only to run over two units over to pick up your other child. Thank you just doesn't seem like enough for all that you are doing, but thank you! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you do to help us stay in business. We are so very thankful for each and every one of our Protege families and students! Here's to the remainder of this season, may it bring warmer weather and a sense of calmness to us all. RIP Ann Reinking. A legendary dancer/choreographer. ~ Many years ago (2001) I was fortunate to train for 3 weeks at at a triple threat summer intensive: The Broadway Theatre Project (University of South Florida, Tampa FL). There were many notable Broadway Stars, Guest Artists, Directors and Teachers in attendance. Ann Reinking & Debra McWaters were both directors of this program at the time.
