To all our Therapy Dogs and their handlers, I wish you a very happy National Dog Day!

Happy St. John Day! I am proud to be a member of St. John Ambulance and today is our day to celebrate all that we are and all that we do. We are a world wide family with a long tradition of service to our communities. Having said that, I have also been reflecting on our current times and the ideas and challenges brought forward in the movements of Black Lives Matter and Indigenous Lives Matter. Our beginnings are from the crusades and times of conflict. Some of our tradition...s are based in those western European Christian experiences and are seen still in some of our ceremonies. Today is a good time to not only celebrate what we do but to consider those roots. We need to also think about who we are now and where we are going. Does your community service unit reflect the community it serves? If not, how do we reach out and grow our diversity? If it does, what encourages that and what can you share with others? Thank-you for all you do in your community!

Spent sometime today with Southwest Branch T-Dogs, MFR, Youth, SAR staff, instructors and board members and their partners from Western University Mock UN/ Conquer Covid 19 crew holding a food drive and PPE Drive. Great causes and well done keeping physical distance and using masks and other appropriate PPE.
