Hi friends: This is the last day to vote for the Faces Magazine Ottawa Awards. I’d certainly appreciate your vote on this last day but would also like to highlight Randy Devine, who is up for favourite general contractor. Randy has gone out of his way these past couple of weeks to spotlight other meritorious businesses, like in his post below. I’ve appreciated his support and would love it if you could take a second and vote for him as well as other businesses on the list below that you may recognize. Thanks as always for your support; it means a lot to me!

There are better ways to settle your family law matters than by going to court. You can save time. You can save money.... You can save emotional cost. You can salvage your co-parenting relationship. Not every matter has to be litigated! Im here to discuss your options, and to help.

COVID-19 UPDATE: With the rise of COVID-19 cases in our community, and the recommendation on social distancing, I am writing to offer the following options with regard to upcoming appointments: 1. Any in-person appointment be converted to a video call via Zoom;... 2. Any in-person appointment be converted to a telephone call; or 3. In-person appointments are postponed to a later date. I am conscious of the need and desire to have swift access to information in family law matters, and to the value and benefit of meeting to discuss these matters in person; particularly in mediation. In my view, a video call would be the next best option, if the technology is available to you. If you have a webcam on your computer, or a camera in your laptop, tablet or smartphone, you can participate in a video call over Zoom. You do not have to be a Zoom subscriber to take part in the call; you would merely need to click on a link that I provide you. If you would like to postpone your appointment so that we can meet in person, I am taking bookings the week of April 6 unless further developments with COVID-19 render that unwise. And as always, I am available by phone to have a lengthier chat as well. Please let me know your preference and I will make the arrangements on my end. Thank you for your understanding during this strange time that we find ourselves in. I hope you and your family stay safe and well. Tanya Parker Wallace

While shared parenting provides children the opportunity to spend time with both of their parents and can enhance a childs feeling of being loved and sense of security, holiday time presents unique challenges... Knowing that you did the right thing by encouraging your kids to spend time with their other parent and you wished them well, can help you survive the holiday season. https://movingpastdivorce.com//surviving-the-holidays-wit/

Kids will be returning from a weekend with the other parent. Many will be tired, some cranky as a result. Stay calm. Remember, even in intact families kids stay... up late on long weekends. No need to take a deep dive into their time with the other parent. No need to check their itinerary or who they spent time with. Your child is home. Embrace that. Just love.

Here's a great tip for Self-care in the Everyday we learned from a PLEO parent: "Try to remember to cherish the little moment of bliss each day." #itsthelittlethings. Please share - you never know who might need a little reminder this week!

#Collaborative is a method of negotiating a resolution to your #FamilyLaw #Parenting , #Financial and other separation issues, in a dignified and effective manner - without having to go to court. You can get what you need, be fair and be fairly treated, without a war! #YesYouCan

"The kids will be fine" is of course every parent's sincere and ardent WISH but how do you turn that sentiment into CONCRETE ACTION to make it so? Using a #Collaborative process can help keep conflict at a minimum + keep communication open and honest! http://ow.ly/CPMB30nu1RY

We don't do yelling at the Collaborative negotiation table, although if it happens, we name it, we stop it (because it makes the space unsafe for at least one other person in that room), and then we explore it. Strong emotions are FLAGS we are talking about something important!
