Dreaming about warmer days lounging in the pool but shiver at the thought of the cold water? What if I told you we have an option for a fully automatic, non-electric/gas pool heater that heats the water with the power of the sun! An easy installation that can be done on the ground or roof surface (in a less permenant way than traditional solar panels), these panels integrate into your pump and piping system to pull water through and heat it as it goes. Imagine swimming in a 92 degree F pool in the middle of May... Who says lockdown can't be enjoyable! Give us a call to find out how we can turn your pool into an oasis!

Happy Earth Day! We are proud here at Quantum to be a part of reducing emissions and helping the earth. Creating your own power from the sun is an easy way to make every day Earth Day! #EarthDay2021 #earthdayeveryday #solar

A few years ago we powered up the community of Nezaadiikaang (Lac des Mille Lacs First Nation), changing their reliance on diesel as well. With only a few brief periods of back up power needed, they have been 'off' diesel since July 2017. Using Renewable Energy in small communities is so important in both of these cases for the economic and the global impacts on both emissions and access to electricity- something that most people take for granted. Powering up rural sites is a...n excellent place to start funding within the Renewable Energy Sector. Hopefully, there are lots more stories like this to come! https://www.cbc.ca//kwadacha-first-nation-solar-panel-inst

We are SO excited here are Quantum that the sun has been shining more now that spring is here! That means back to the rooftops and sometimes... rockfaces! Not all sites have ideal roof or ground space so we make do with the location and sometimes have to get creative. Have a cottage or cabin that doesn't have power? We can fix that! Small systems with only a few panels can charge phones, keep your lights on and make you just that bit more comfortable that you might never want to leave!

Some of you may be wondering... do solar panels even work in the cold? YES! The panels work by absorbing light, not heat from the sun. The reaction within the panels actually works more efficiently in cooler temperatures and as for all that reflective white snow... it is acting as a mirror giving the panels more sunshine! While we install at the optimal slide angle, some panels (especially low angle winter ground mounts!) may need a little extra help getting cleared off before working at peak performance.

Ever wonder why solar panels are installed the way they are? We purposefully create angles that are optimal for sun collection, but also for the snow to not collect! The optimal angle for both is around 40 degrees. Imagine: sitting home during lockdown, but not worried about the outside world as your home has its own personal power source. For your essentials, you jump into your (sun-powered!) electric car. Life is good!

Do you know what your carbon footprint is? With Canada’s plan to increase the cost of carbon pollution, now is the perfect time to change habits and create new ones regarding your own emissions. Being mindful of your impact, however small compared to the global scale, can lead to big changes. Simple things like turning off lights and electronics, and unplugging chargers and when not in use can help save not only money but carbon emissions! Installing solar panels is another g...reat way to reduce your impact and reduce your reliance on emission based electricity. With money being pledged toward updating grids and advancing renewable energy, we hope there will be more incentive programs coming soon! The increasing price [of carbon emissions] will make cleaner options more affordable and discourage pollution-intensive investments https://www.canada.ca//climate/annex_clean_electricity.pdf https://globalnews.ca//canada-climate-change-plan-justin-/ See more

A solar-powered home can reduce emissions by 100 TONS over the average lifetime of the system (25-30 years). Imagine if everyone had solar-powered homes- we would be well on our way to significantly reducing our country’s carbon footprint! Give us a call today for more information on how to reduce your electricity bill as well as your carbon footprint! 613-546-2326

Did you know? In a single hour, the amount of power coming from the sun is equal to more power than the entire earth consumes in one YEAR? While there is no way for us to capture all the sun’s energy every second, it puts into perspective just how much ‘free’ energy we have available all around us! Solar energy can be captured in two ways- photovoltaic (PV), which is used for electricity, and solar thermal, which is used for heating. At Quantum, we capture solar energy in both ways with our solar panels and our solar hot water systems. This was a recent PV ground mount install done in Brockville.
