We are getting ready to close for the Christmas break at noon on Wednesday Dec 23rd and will reopen on Monday Jan 4th. Any online orders placed after Dec 21st will be shipped Jan 5th.

We've taken a break from Social Media for a little over 3 months, and it's been glorious. No anxiety, no ulcer flare ups, no laying awake thinking about it. Decided early this week to return but did not anticipate that this would be how I did. People...wear the damn mask! I'm not interested in why you won't wear one. We don't need to hear about your ridiculous political stand, or your non-expert second guessing of the experts. I have children and friends and a community that you have no right to put at risk. Your "right" to freedom ends where my rights begin. If you refuse to wear a mask, accept that there will be consequences. You cannot enter our store without one. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Today is the beginning of Pride month, and uncharacteristically I don't know what to say right now. Pandemic, depression, riots, racial injustice, all kinds of other inequalities, and the protesting voices of millions who feel unheard, trying desperately to be heard. It's hard to be hopeful right now. I feel unqualified, that I'm not up to the task, & I'm afraid I'll say the wrong thing despite the best intentions. So I'll just say I love you & I stand with you. It just takes clean gear, good water, fresh coffee and some care. We have LOTS of coffee gear in the kitchen and if you take care of it, it lasts forever! This Moka Express from Bialetti was made in 1976 and still gets lots of use (and it's not the oldest one I have by about 30 years). It's easy to make great cold brew a home! Just in time for the good weather. Cold brew is really as simple as mixing ground coffee with cool water and steeping the mixture overnight ( I just leave it on the counter). The next day you strain the mixture, leaving you with a concentrate (its strong, so youll want to dilute it) that can be served right away or stored for up to two weeks. 3 keys - use a very coarse grind, use double the coffee to water ratio you normally use and... strain it well. A little pro tip for home baristas in quarantine. To get that perfect microfoam, don't fill the pitcher too much (fill the pitcher to a spot below where the spout starts) and don't move it around once you start steaming. Espresso in the morning is super important! We like this one at 15g in and 30g out at around 27s. Gives a nice balanced shot with citric sweetness, snap and a great finish. As part of the food production supply chain, we're roasting and shipping as close to normal as we can. That doesn't mean we haven't changed the way we work.
