Full conversion to a Vibram Gumlite treaded sole for these Frye combat boots. Orange Vibram Solefactor. Soles were way too big so we split the heel and sole, added a mid sole, and stitched the entire sole onto the boot. A visual representation on the difference between a Fullsole and a Halfsole/Heel resole. Both #guidi boots. Same original leather soles. First pair installed with Vibram Mortara Mini Lug Halfsole and Ursi Lug Heels. You can see a slight seam where the rubber meets meets leather. Rubber is installed directly on top of original leather soles. Can be removed and reapplied as soles get worn easily. ... Second pair installed with a Vibram #100 Fullsole (includes the heels). Something we see day after day are boots that just arnt put together properly. The most common problem is that the stitching you see on the bottom (and assume is there to hold the sole together) is actually fake. Lower end boot makers tend to fabricate their soles separately from the uppers and then at another location, glue them together. This saves them money (we assume...). You can see through these photos how they trick you. They actually stitch through the sole BEFORE ...the boots are put together. Doesn't seem right? That's because it isn't. It's a straight forward fix...ACTUALLY stitch the soles back together. There's a variety of stitched construction methods, and we work with them all. This particular boot only needed its half sole stitched down. Now it's a quality boot.
