ONTARIO IMMIGRANT NOMINEE PROGRAM (OINP) ISSUES FRAUD WARNING Important: You will never receive a confirmation letter or nomination certificate from the OINP if you have not applied to the program and do not have an application pending. Some members of the public have been receiving emails with a false Ontario Certificate of Nomination attached, requesting a Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF).... These certificates bear the Government of Ontario Logo and the address of 400 University Avenue in Toronto. This fraudulent activity can be identified through the following markers: No Certificate of Nomination will ever be emailed to you by the OINP. The contact telephone and fax number on the certificate contain a 708 area code. This is not an area code used in Ontario and is not connected to the OINP in any way. The false nomination certificate refers to the CIC Visa Office. The Federal Government of Canada has changed the name of the department that deals with Canadian immigration. It is now called Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). You will never be asked to make a payment to the OINP through a wire transfer, and you will never be asked to pay a ‘Right of Permanent Residence Fee’. Applicants to the OINP pay a one-time upfront administration fee to the program, through the online system, and do not pay for a nomination certificate when and if it is granted. It is important to note that the OINP, as well as any other Canadian Immigration Program, will never contact you by phone or email to make a payment. If you receive such a call or email, please forward the information to the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program immediately at [email protected]. Never give out personal information such as account numbers, mother’s maiden name, passwords or other identifying information in response to unsolicited emails or calls. To report fraud, contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre by telephone at 1-888-495-8501 or through their website: http://www.antifraudcentre-centreanitfraude.ca.

IMMIGRATION FRAUDSTERS TARGETING CANADIANS TRACED BACK TO AHMEDABAD Ahmedabad: According to the complaint filed by Naranpura resident Dushyant Shah on behalf of his daughter Dhruma, 28, who is currently studying in Canada, some fraudsters had called her up to give her a scare over immigration issues, offering to settle for CDN 1,450 (Rs 73,028). Dhruma, who has been... living with her uncle Paresh Shah in Canada for the last two years, apparently fell for the trick and deposited the money where asked. Later, the money was traced to a bank account in Ahmedabad and complaint filed at cyber cell of city crime branch against one Prashant Gajjar and others for cheating Dhruma. Cyber cell officials of the city crime branch said that the accused had called up Dhruma on May 19 posing as Canadian immigration officers and told her that she has not finished immigration procedures, and hence they hold a warrant to arrest her. "The caller said if she wants to settle the dispute she will have to pay 1,450 Canadian dollars. Shah who had gone to study Food Science Technology got frightened, and shelled out the amount in the name of one Prashant Gajjar through a money exchanger in India," added a cyber-cell official. According to crime branch officials the same persons took another chance and called on the landline number of Shah's uncle Paresh Shah, on the very next day, and asked Dhruma to deposit another 3,290 Canadian dollars. "These time around, Dhruma told her uncle about the calls, who deduced they were fraudsters. Both Dhruma and her uncle Paresh then went to the post office at Brampton from where she had earlier sent the money, and got the details of the money transfer," added a crime branch official. Crime branch sources said Dhruma then contacted her father and asked him to lodge a complaint with Ahmedabad police, as the money was withdrawn from Ahmedabad within ten minutes of deposit. "We have lodged a complaint under sections related to cheating based on the information given by Dushyant Shah. We are hunting for the accused and will nab them soon. We have even identified the centre of the money exchange agency," added a senior crime branch official. Source: Times of India See more

**OINP (Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program) has stopped accepting application for some streams... As a result of changes Ontario has made to more closely align the streams of the program with the needs of its labour market, the province has already received the sufficient number of OINP applications to meet its 2016 federal allocation. This is further proof that Ontario remains a very sought after destination for highly-skilled workers.... Ontario has placed a temporary pause on the intake of applications for following streams as of May 9, 2016. 1) Ontario stopped sending Notifications of Interest (NOIs) for the OINP Human Capital Priorities (Express Entry) stream effective February 16, 2016. 2) Ontario temporarily paused the intake of new applications for the following select, high-volume OINP streams effective 5 p.m. EDT on May 9, 2016: # Employer Pre-screen # International Student Masters Graduate stream # International Student PhD Graduate stream However, The OINP will continue to accept applications from Foreign Worker and International Student with a Job Offer applicants as Employer Pre-screen applications are assessed. Only those Foreign Worker and International Student with a Job Offer applicants whose job offer has been approved through the Employer Pre-screen application process may apply to the OINP. The OINP continues to accept and process applications for the following streams # French-Speaking Skilled Worker stream # Corporate stream. Also, The OINP also continues to accept Expressions of Interest for the Entrepreneur stream. Ontario anticipates that it will receive its 2017 nomination allocation from the federal government before the end of November 2016, and the province expects to be in a position to accept applications for some streams in six months. Given the positive effect of the program on Ontario’s economy, the province continues to engage the federal government on nominee numbers. Need to know more ??? Are you waiting for an invitation?
