QuickStart Early Intervention for Autism is pleased to offer a FREE 3-part webinar for parents/caregivers of children who elope (wander). This webinar is focusing on children 5 years old and under. We are pleased to have Véronique Chiasson (Occupational Therapist and certified Early Start Denver Model Therapist/Trainer at Emerging Minds Est) presenting the webinar. Vero will help parents identify risk factors, the causes of wandering, determine preventable strategies, help with building skills in children, and help parents develop a plan of action. Due to Covid-19, families will have flexibility to use the funding for an expanded list of eligible expenses, or 1:1 support workers so their child can attend a March Break camp (March 15-19, 2021), or to allow them to purchase other appropriate respite and recreational supports in the event of potential camp cancellations.! In yesterday’s Government of Canada Speech from the Throne, it was highlighted that COVID-19 has disproportionately affected Canadians with disabilities. The government said it will bring forward a disability inclusion plan that will include: - a new Canadian Disability Benefit modeled after the Guaranteed Income Supplement for seniors; - an employment strategy for Canadians with disabilities; and,... - a better process to determine eligibility for government disability programs and benefits. Once we find out more, we’ll be sure to share it with you!
