We are responding to the rising COVID-19 spread by implementing stronger mandatory and voluntary public health measures in Calgary and surrounding areas. These ...targeted measures took effect on Friday, November 13: 1. Fitness group classes and team sports must stop until November 27. This does not include outdoor sports, individual sports, individual exercises, training or equipment use. Gyms are not required to close. This also doesn’t apply to junior, university or professional sports. 2. Group performances, such as singing, dancing and theatre must cease until November 27. This doesn’t apply to professional performance venues. These additional measures are in effect in all regions under an enhanced status. 3. All restaurants, bars, lounges and pubs in these regions must cease liquor sales by 10 p.m. and close by 11 p.m. until November 27. 4. Maximum attendance of 50 at wedding or funeral ceremonies. 5. All faith-based activities are recommended to limit attendance to one-third capacity per service. 6. Residents should not hold social gatherings within their home and should not plan social gatherings outside their community. 7. Employers in office settings are recommended to implement measures to reduce the number of employees in the workplace at one time. We are asking all Albertans to do their part. If these measures are not successful, it will be necessary to implement more restrictive measures. For more information visit: https://www.alberta.ca/enhanced-public-health-measures.aspx

On Thursday, November 12th, Police Officer Travis Wallace of the Helena-West Helena Police Department (Arkansas) was shot and killed in the line of duty. Office...r Wallace and his partner observed a wanted individual in an auto and conducted a vehicle stop. The wanted individual was the subject of a shooting which had occurred one week earlier. The wanted individual immediately exited the vehicle and advanced on Officer Wallace’s patrol car and began firing. Officer Wallace was struck by the gunfire but was able to return fire before the shooter fled in the vehicle. Officer Wallace was transported to a local area hospital where he succumbed to his wounds. The shooter was captured the next day in Mississippi and is charged with capital murder. Officer Wallace is survived by his young son. Rest easy, Officer. We’ve got the watch.

We remember A/Cst. Glen Gregory Evely who died as a result of a motor vehicle accident, while patrolling in the area of a suspected stolen vehicle and high speed pursuit on November 13, 2004 in Vernon, British Columbia. #RCMPNeverForget
